1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Odessa (Grumperina for MagKnits) KAL on: February 17, 2007 02:11:35 PM
here is my odessa in progress:) i'm knitting it for my sister, and i love this yarn. of course, it is all acrylic, but it has beautiful sheen and knits up so nicely..

i left out 2 pattern repeats since my gauge was 24st/4", and i decided to make it without beads. and i'm posting this to make sure i'll finish it once:D

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting on the commuter rail? on: February 17, 2007 01:03:00 AM
circs, definetly. also from experience:) Michela said it all, i just wanted to add that if you learn magic loop, you will not need extra circ needle, and people will stare at you much less if you knit on circs then on dpns:)

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: R2 rag- suggestions? (or: why not to go rooting around in the bargain bin... on: February 13, 2007 03:43:36 AM
maybe a little clutch? here is how i make them:) co, knit few rows, then make a really large buttonhole for handles (like on this bag). then knit in whatever stitch you want untill you have just a little bit left. then make another large buttonhole, and knit few more rows, bo, and sew sides. you won't have any leftovers:)
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / recipe for top-down beanie? on: February 11, 2007 04:48:10 AM
hi! i'm a fairly new crocheter and i have no problem with scarves, and so, but i would like to make a beanie, and all patterns that i find are written for some american yarn or so, and i'm bit uncapable of determining a gauge. could you direct me towards some beanie recipe that would just say how often do i increase and till when. does somethin like that exist?Smiley
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Felted Pincushion Tutorial/Instructions? on: February 10, 2007 03:03:35 AM
i'm probably wrong, but if you watch that cupcake photo carefully, it seems like it has a piece of felt at the bottom, too. try cutting a circle just a little bit smaller in diameter then cupcake, and then sew/glue/whatever it to the bottom. and cherry.. maybe a little pompom or bead made of felt?
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting Chick Lit on: February 10, 2007 02:58:53 AM
Not really a chick lit, more crime/mystery, but some time ago i finished "knit one, kill two" that i received in personal swap (thans, FrogPuddle:)). it's not exactly work of art, but it is fun:) it's about a woman that solves murder(s) with help of women from her lys:)

also, there is a lot of knitting going on in "The Cat Who Saw Stars" from "The Cat Who..." series by Lilian Jackson Braun. There is even some spinning, and the book is also crime/mystery:) i was listening to audiobook while knitting, it is great, much better then tv for me because a) i don't have tv b) i can still watch my knitting while listening to:)
