1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Octopode Pandemonium! (Now with Tutorial!) on: April 16, 2007 02:43:43 PM
I saw this pattern online last week, and I had to make it Smiley My mom snagged some awesome blue/green wool yarn from a wholesale blow-out a couple of months ago... it was perfect for this project! I wasn't really sure what I was going to do with a stuffed octopus (dorm rooms are small!), so I gave to to my boyfriend's nephew for his 2nd birthday. He seemed to like it, as much as a 2 year old can like anything Smiley

I only had enough yarn to do five legs...

May I present Pierre Pentapus:

He enjoys Enviga.

Thing One and Thing Two

That was actually our first idea! does anyone know where we could get one piece red suits or something?

Oh, Nikki, what kind of yarn did you use for the mittens and the purse thing?? It's so soft... I love it Smiley

(can you tell I am blown away by this?)

*grin* You could always tell them that they can join craftster themselves (provided they craft, of course), so they eventually can join cool swaps like this, too Wink

My friend Lindsay is totally going to join... she's really artsy and crafty too. I'm trying to convince my roommate to do it too Smiley <3 craftster!

I received today from how_german, and I was blown away by the amazing package!! She put so much time and thought into everything... I love it ALL! On to the pictures:

Here's everything:

LOVELY mittens... they're SO soft and have an adorable bow:

Front of a mini wallet/change purse thing... it's knit and SO soft. And I LOVE the colors:

Back:

Radiohead pincushion!! This is done SO well... ahh!

Bead lizard stitch markers in great colors: (the pictures get crappy here cause i just got back from a 4 hour chemistry lab and the sun is going down Tongue)

A great note (you inspired me to learn to knit mittens!!), a gourd (so festive!), and a Pittsburg pin:

My roommate and one of my friends were severely jealous of my package, and I couldn't stop smiling when I opened it. Everything is so personal and awesome... I LOVE everything. Nikki, you were such a great swap partner!! Smiley Smiley
5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: creative couples costumes?? on: September 14, 2006 01:14:06 PM
random ideas:
father time / mother earth
peas / carrots
car / roadkill (i creep myself out sometimes)
rain / wicket witch of the [some direction] (from the wizard of oz. cause he makes you melt)
mario / princess peach
popcorn / candy (movie theme)
ball / chain
quill / ink tube thingy

i think it would be best if you went w/ something that you both like, not just something that would be cool. something like character from your favorite movie or something you both like to do.

Mario and Princess Peach was our initial costume idea, but i havne't been able to find the right pink prom-dress-type-dress yet, and I really don't have time to make an entire dress (not to mention I've never made an entire dress before). We're thinking of going as Thing 1 and Thing 2... anyone know where we could get button-up pj's?? heh. Smiley

And thanks for the suggestions everyone! Some of them are awesmoe and I'll defnitely have to run them by the boy. Thanks!!! Cheesy
6  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Granny Square Crochetalong!!! on: September 12, 2006 09:00:54 AM
cant be that new, cuz that's exactly what i did LOL, it's really easy, just find a granny square pattern and build on it

What size hook did you use for this, or does it not matter? I'm just starting out with the crocheting and the only hook I have is an F/5... would that be too small?

thanks!! Smiley
7  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / creative couples costumes?? on: September 09, 2006 04:58:21 PM
so my boyfriend and i are invited to this HUGE Halloween party that only happens every other year, and we really want to get creative and have kick-ass costumes. but, we're both coming up short on ideas. we want to do something that goes together, but something that will send people for a loop... something out of the ordinary and kind of out there. we're up for just about anything.

Does anyone have any ideas? it can be abstract or concrete... ANYTHING!

Smiley thanks in advance!

(I'm a transfer too Smiley)

Clark craftster here! AC Moore is really good for craft supplies (super cheap t-shirts in every color imaginable too!). Other than that, I really don't know of much around the area... I grew up in Fitchburg (about a half hour from Worcester), and I know that this area is generally not crafter-friendly. However, I've heard if you look hard enough, you can find some pretty cool stuff.

Hey, and if you're itching to learn how to knit, I'm usually around and would be glad to teach... drop me a line on AIM if you want (supersleeves). Smiley

Happy Crafting!!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: pirate ipod case goes overboard :( on: July 16, 2006 07:22:24 PM
I really love the stenciled part. Maybe you could cut that off, and sew up the raw edge to match the others. Then get some black felt, and make a new case, with a black closing flap. Then put the pirate square on the outside of the black one, and possibly line the inside of the pouch with the same fabric?

That is a fabulous idea! the pirate was my favorite part too, and that would make it look so awesome.

Thanks!
