21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Swap Angels and the 5 swap limit on: August 12, 2006 11:03:24 AM
i don't know if this has already been addressed, and feel free to move this topic if it's in the wrong spot, but are people allowed to angel for a swap if they already have five in-progress swaps?
22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / swap probation? on: July 29, 2006 12:36:50 PM
i have a question/idea about feedback.  i've noticed that organizers have been really good lately about using the comment section to note late sending and whether a person was in communication or not.  but i have to ask -- what's the point (as an organizer) of seeing that someone sent late ten times with very little communication?  if someone eventually sends, regardless of how late and how little communication, they'll still receive positive feedback and will be allowed into the swap.

i don't want to be mean or anything, and i know that there are times when real life crises prevent folks from spending time crafting or checking on craftster, but i think maybe having some sort of "swap probation" might be a good idea.  i know that the new rules are supposed to help with this, but it seems like there are some people who just don't care about sending late or staying in communication because they know that they are ensured positive feedback as long as they send.  maybe after three late/poor communication swaps, people can be put on "probation" where they can only do one swap at a time until they send on time?

maybe that's kind of harsh, but it's a pain in the butt when you're organizing and someone doesn't communicate for a MONTH and then only pms you to say they've sent AFTER you've found an angel for their partner.  anyway, what are your thoughts?
23  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Medical ID Bracelet Ideas? on: July 28, 2006 08:15:13 AM
my coworker's son has health issues which require him to wear a medical ID bracelet.  he's outgrowing his old one, and she asked me if i could make him a new one.  the goal is to make him something he'd *want* to wear rather than *have* to wear.  so far my plan is to make a shrinky dink with all of his info on it and then put it on a chain, but i'd like to somehow incorporate some of his favorite things (namely spongebob and skateboarding).  i would love any ideas you might have; i really want to make him something special!!

thanks in advance!
24  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Ongoing Wish Swap 11 - ANGEL FOUND on: July 24, 2006 07:51:50 PM
i'm sad, we almost made it through this swap flake-free!  Cry

we need a swap angel for the wonderful bluelise.  she was picked for bath stuff, but i'll check with her to see if she would like to post her whole list here.  please PM me if you would like to be an angel!!
25  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Ultimate Craft Kit! need ideas! on: June 29, 2006 11:59:08 PM
my best friend's birthday is in a month, and i want to give her the ultimate craft kit.  she hangs out with me while i sell my crafts and always says that she would love to be crafty but "just isn't creative."  however, i KNOW she's a totally creative person, she just needs to find the right craft Smiley

so for her birthday, i want to give her a big box full of all different sorts of craft supplies -- sort of a beginner's starter set of crafty stuff Smiley  i also want to give her stuff for specific projects and some instructions so she won't be totally lost as to how to begin.

what i'm planning on including so far:
- jewelry making supplies: findings, beads, wire, wire cutters
- some fat quarters of fabric
- assorted zippers, buttons, velcro, snaps
- sewing needles/embroidery needles
- thread/embroidery floss
- instructions for how to make a zippered pouch
- instructions for how to embroider (with a hoop and some patterns)
- felt
- glue
- some polymer clay
- shrinky dinks, instructions, and some barrettes and pinbacks to put her stuff on
- a plain little trinket box or picture frame for her to decorate
- paint brushes
- scrapbooking paper
- assorted ribbon/lace/ric rac
- a few microscope slides and enough foil tape to make a pendant

can you think of anything else i absolutely must include??  it's her 21st birthday and i absolutely love her and want it to be awesome Smiley  thanks for your help!!
26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Apple Earrings! on: June 20, 2006 09:07:42 PM
so these are pretty simple, but i love 'em to death Smiley

i made them with two flat-backed fused glass beads i got from etsy and two green leaf beads i found on etsy.  in the picture, the red beads look kind of weird and crackly; they look much better in real life!

27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Barnyard Friends! on: June 19, 2006 11:34:28 PM
i've had this idea floating around for a while and i think it would be wonderful to have a barnyard friends themed swap -- similar to the forest friends swap, but with cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, goats, horses, and country kitsch!  would anybody else be interested in this?  i would definitely be up to organize!

30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Felted Bead Necklace on: May 30, 2006 07:47:05 PM
i think i'm going to make this necklace a little longer and i still have to add the clasp, but here it is:

i meant it to look ocean-y but it looks more like little earths to me!  do you think i could sell this?  for how much?  i'm hoping to be a part of a monthly arts & crafts street fair in my city, and i'm trying to get things ready for it.  thanks for looking!
