1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Custom Vans Slip-ons (Warning...Picture Heavy!!) on: June 20, 2008 07:32:43 PM
The robot ones are by far my favorite, but they're all real good. Great job!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Chicken hat on: March 22, 2008 08:59:08 AM
My friend is obsessed with hat that have animals on them. He has an owl, penguin, and puppy. I felt like he needed more. Thus, the chicken hat was born! I based the look of it off of his owl hat (i.e. the way the eyes and mouth looked), but the chicken design was all mine.

The front of the hat. The eyes and the red top had to be sewn on. I discovered that felt doesn't stay glued together very well.

Me modeling the hat. There are also pom-poms that you can't see in the picture.

Pattern: Slightly modified Basic Earflap Hat from Hey Julie
http://heyjulie.wordpress.com/2006/06/27/basic-earflap-hat/
Yarn: Red Heart Soft Yarn in White

The hardest part to make was the red thing on top (I don't know the name of it). It was two separate pieces sewn together and popping them inside out was nearly impossible.
Overall, it took about 3 weeks because I kept forgetting materials at my house, but the actually time spent on it was about 6 hours max. He loves that hat, though! I was very tempted to keep it for myself  Grin
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My first attempt at knitting... on: March 22, 2008 08:33:55 AM
That is incredible! Your intarsia is perfect. And for your first pattern-followed project? Great job
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Monster Hats (Image heavy). on: March 12, 2008 05:41:57 PM
I have a feeling the zombie hat is in my future. When I showed my boyfriend, he said that it was "the coolest hat ever!!!!!!" With 6 exclamation points. And he wants to wear it to the next Zombie March.
So now I must ask, how did you attach the teeth and other felt objects to the hat? Does the brim curl at all? And did you do all the details in marker? They look so precise and real.
Gotta love zombies, man. Great job.

10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Pod of Whales {just a bit of an image overload} on: December 20, 2007 06:32:52 AM
My first thought when I saw these was "How cute!" My second thought was "OH MY GOSH! They are like the whales in 'Burt Dow: Deep-Water Man'!" It is a children's book, and Burt Dow puts band-aids on a whole pod of multicolored whales.

Your whales came out so perfect!
