3  Texas / Texas: North Central / Re: McKinney/Allen meetup? on: November 26, 2008 09:00:26 PM
oh I'd love to be in on this, I'm in McKinney, been here for about 6 months (I'm working as an au-pair)
I don't do much crafty things at the time, (left all my stuff back in my hometown) mostly art, and some cross stitching.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / my beedrom is in desperate need of help on: November 26, 2008 08:43:26 PM
I moved in to a family about 6 months ago to be an au-pair.
I got this big room that is just not me, I tried to hang posters on the wall to make it a little more cozy, but it's not really helping.
The color of the room is peach and is not really my color. i'm more for bright colors. They would let me paint the room if I want to, but I have no idea on what color or how to decorate, since I'm only going to stay here for a year i don't want to spend money on expensive stuff.  I'm thinking about painting a stencil or a big painting on the wall behind the bed..
well anyway I really need cheap decorating tips

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / LED-lighting on: July 11, 2007 12:38:19 PM
I hope this topic goes here..
I just watched Cribs on MTV and I saw this cool lighting in the crib of Craig David.

Basiclly it was (i think) LED lights in a trim on the bottom of the wall, and then you could change color from red to green to blue.

Does anyone know if it's hard to build that kind of stuff, or can you purchase cheap spotlights, or anything..

Give me some tips and tricks... because it would look so cool in my room.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / [ugly betty]...dress made out of office supplies on: January 18, 2007 06:47:28 AM
i don't know if this should go here..
but i'll give it a shoot..

i was on the ugly betty page and came across this
http://www.abcuglybettycontest.com/

"Have you got the skills to design a fabulous couture dress? Do you have the creativity to blow past obstacles? Here's your chance to prove it! Create a dress that will appear in an episode of ABC's Golden Globe-nominated series Ugly Betty!

Here's the deal: Christina, Mode magazine's resident keeper of "the closet," is commissioned by a prominent celebrity to design a dress to be worn at a formal public event-- but she's snowed in at the office! With twelve hours to execute her design and no fabric to work with, Christina is forced to the use everyday office supplies to make her creation.

That's where you come in. Help Christina make the formal dress!

Submit drawing(s) or sketch(es) of your Design, showing both the back and front of the garment, along with instructions on how to construct it (i.e. materials used, shape, form and color) only using office supplies such as tape, bubble wrap, shopping bags, calendars, shoe boxes, hole punchers, paper clips or newspaper, just to name a few. Also, submit an original Essay in 100 words or less, discussing the underlying concept for the Design.

A dress based on the winning design will appear in an upcoming episode of the show! The winning "designer" will receive a trip for two (2) to Los Angeles, CA for the taping of the Ugly Betty television show scheduled to take place on 02/02/2007, where a dress based upon the winner's Design will be incorporated in the Show."

I'm sadly not in the US so i can't participate.
