1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: granny square blanket progress pic! on: February 22, 2006 08:40:45 PM
Thank you everyone! I have enjoyed working on this blanket, but it will be sooo good to finish it! I'm glad some of you mentioned the black border being worth it - I was beginning to wonder, haha.

MissMeshell - I didn't intend for it to match, I think that those are just colors I love and tend to lean towards Smiley I only bought a few new colors, like a dark green and the orange, the rest were all scrap yarns I had left over!

umbrellamaker - I have an old crochet/knit book from the 70's and that is where I learned it, but I'm sure there has to be something online, it is a very basic pattern.... http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/01granny/grannysquare.shtml there's one! Smiley

(You can see the large version here: http://static.flickr.com/40/102900298_162b500a16_b.jpg)

I have been working on this blanket for a loooong time. In between other projects, in long and short spurts, etc. It is almost done, now! Just one more square, then I need to finish weaving in a *bunch* of loose ends, sew them together, and then put on a border or two. Phew!

Because I am crazy, I did a border of black single crochet around each square, it just made me feel better to do that, haha. That is one of the reasons it is taking me so long! (I think I started early Summer, 2005)

Just wanted to share! Smiley I posted it in here, since it's not technically finished...

Thank you guys so much, I felt so inspired I started another one last night! =D

The one I frequent most often (b/c it is closest to my house, ha) is over on Charlotte. If you were coming from Bellevue, you would take Old Hickory to Charlotte, you pass the Wal-Mart, then the Bowling Alley, it's on the left, kind of by the Aldi's and stuff. If you hit White Bridge, you went too far.

It is hit or miss, I've found a lot of good books and got an awesome couch there, hehe. I haven't looked through their clothes much, but my sister got some really cute shoes there.

Thank you everyone! I think I just might start another one today...

I'm working on one of them right now, but all the little leaves started to get tedious so I set it aside for a little bit. I will try and post it as soon as it's done!

Yes, I agree, the leaves were quite tedious but they turn out really cute in the end!

Aww, they're so cute! Looks really neat, what sort of stitch is that? It looks like chain stitch or split stitch.

I used stem and split, plus some little backstitching here and there when needed.

soooo cute!  and I'm so jealous of your perfect stitches.

Thanks! They don't look perfect to me, but it makes me happy you think so!

I did these months and months ago, but just recently got around to taking some photos:

The blue owl is actually the tester pattern for the set - but I love him most! I call the other one my Egghead Owl because he looks like an egg, ha. I do like the way the branches came out in that one, however.

Just wanted to share, lately I have been knitting a lot, but have been in a stitching mood this past week! Smiley

I bought those same transfers about six or so months ago - I love owls Smiley I agree, the test owl is the cutest! I embroidered him first and he's still my favorite! Good job on your owl!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Dayflower Lace Scarf (with link to free pattern) on: September 04, 2005 09:52:49 AM
I finished this scarf a few days ago! Once I got the hang of the pattern, it knit up really fast, I love this pattern!

I have never had luck with lace before, so I did this in really cheap acrylic, in a nice burnt orange color (although it looks more like bright!orange in this photo). I really like how it turned out Smiley
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Retro Dining Room Decor w/ Lots'a Photos!!!! on: June 26, 2005 01:13:11 PM
I love retro red things Smiley I think a nice golden color goes well with the red, if you decide against green.
