Jumping in a bit late, but that looks fantastic!

Just imagine it with a chunky metal zipper around the mouth that opens and closes. Haha... might have to try this!

Good work. Your niece must have loved it.

Thanks so much for the kind words, guys.

I have to say the inspiration for the pink and yellow came off a quilt i saw on this website, but i can't at all remember who it was by to give the credit to.
But yes, the niece loved it too, and actually looks after it (unlike most of her other things. lol ) Wink
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Destiny diptych on: April 18, 2009 05:25:36 AM
Hi,

I made these not long ago. They are on stretched canvas, with a chinese newspaper ripped in pieces and glued on as the background, then painted over with a translucent paint to give it the aged look. The characters for "destiny" and "tranquility" were then painted on them. The red strips have something in chinese painted on it, but i have no idea what it says, though with my luck its probably a funeral paper AND stuck on upside down (but if anyone can translate it, i would REALLY really love to know!)

Thanks for looking and enjoy.
C&C as always much appreciated.

Trying to get rid of all the craft supplies taking up space, i decided to make myself a quilt, until my niece came over and saw me making it and asked for it. She never asks me for anything, so how could i say no??

Boy did i regret it when it was finished, cos i actually really loved it and wanted to keep it for snuggling on the couch!

The quilt fits approximately the top of a single bed.

I also made a matching pillow, as i had leftover fabric.

Showing the back of the fabric.
That fabric was not from my stash, but she loved a scrap i had similar to that, and i didn't have any pieces big enough... and it was on sale for 4$/m  Grin

The matching pillow

And both together.

Thanks for looking.
All C&C (good and bad) much appreciated.

Hi all...
After years of reading and beating amazed by everyones elses creations on craftster, i have decided to finally post my first post. Woohoo!

I started this quilt about 10 years ago while i was at college. It was basically finished except for the binding, so i finally pulled it out this year and finished it. Just in time for winter down under.

I cross-stitched the centrepiece and had no use for it so decided to use it on here, and i hand quilted the swirly pattern, but got bored quickly, so machine stitched around the squares around the rest of the quilt. Wink

Comments and criticisms appreciated... (even the bad stuff, or i'll never learn!  Smiley)
