22  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Help! My dachshund licks my couch on: March 16, 2009 08:53:59 AM
I have an 8 yr old Dachshund named Max.  He is very cuddly and loves to sit with myself and my husband on our couch.  The only problem is he likes to lick our couch cushions and sometimes drools.  I have a new "everyday suede" couch and would like to keep it looking nice.
Does anyone know of a pattern so i can sew a cover for the couch cushions?
I only want to cover the bottom ones (3).

I dont want to just put a blanket on the couch as that looks frumpy...any help?
any suggestions as to the fabric i could use?

thanks
23  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Brownies... Aren't they supposed to be easy!? Share your wisdom with me. on: February 27, 2009 08:45:51 AM
This is a funny post.  I have always made brownies from a box too and they were never spectacular.   One day a girl brought in her brownies to work.  They were amazing!!! I asked if they were homemade, she said no, they were from a box.
I asked what the secret is....she said    "a Square Pan"
I went and bought a square baking pan and it changed my boxed brownies forever.
something odd...i don't know why, but it works

enjoy!
24  Texas / Texas: Central / Re: any San Marcos/Texas State crafters? on: February 23, 2009 07:22:16 AM
Just moved to San Marcos in July.  My husband goes to ACC.
I would love to learn to knit...i have tried too many times and i just can't get it.

I am a self-taught crafter.   I see something and can usually mimic it.
I need sewing lessons...lol

Anyone out there that wants to get a group together?

If you are using en even number of strands, eg 6, cut a length double to what you usually use. Then use half the number of strands, eg if you normally use 6 strands, use three instead, and fold them over so you still have the right thickness. thread the needle with the ends, leaving a loop at the other end. When you put the needle and thread through the cloth, pass it through the loop at the back. This anchors your thread without leaving a tail.
DOes this make sense to you? If not I will try and find a better explanation  Smiley

i got confused....where does the "loop at the back" come from?
