see if there's an option on your camera that looks like a tulip or a flower. that should work. and make sure not to take the picture too close to the item because it will definitely not be able to focus on it. maybe 2-3 feet away and then crop out the extra space in the photo later.

woah that is the coolest quilt in the universe.
3  CANADA / British Columbia / Re: Vancouver - Consignment? on: July 08, 2004 08:28:20 PM
kitsilano has a tonne of shops. shine is on broadway near macdonald, changes is a poshier store in point grey, and there's a whole tonne on fourth avenue between alma and cypress....

the only thing about consignment there (i don't know about east van) is that they take 60%, which makes it not even worth it for me to consign with them.

goodluck!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re:recent purses on: March 26, 2004 11:33:56 PM
i made up the peep pattern and the stork bag pattern myself (which is actually different from the wild ginger pattern that i took a gander at). basically i just made them up off the top of my head? i knew how i wanted it to look, and i cut stuff out to make it look that way! hehe. sorry i couldn't offer a better explanation.

so cute!
is that hand embroidery?
xo

i'd like to say it is, but it's done with an embroidery sewing machine in the "redwork" style.

peep! says peep
bleet! says the sheep

the peep purse! not to be confused with his marshmallowy seasonal counterpart, peep himself is a vintage-inspired song bird. made from an old dress, this baguette sports what used to be a pocket and spaghetti straps.

also: my stork bag. i can't remember if i've posted that here before
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / ultra-thin with flexi-wings: the pad bag on: March 10, 2004 10:42:42 PM
i'm all up in the exciting descriptions nowadays...bear with me.

sasha and jane are talking about it, the pad bag! sport it out, and you'll have dozens of girls heeding the maxim and offering you free pads! you can't lose!

fully lined in a discreet dark grey to conceal stains, the pad bag offers four wall protection so you can stay confident all day long. the cottony softness keeps you feeling comfortable while the corduroy channel technology offers a close-to-the-body fit so it stays with you as you move. the new flexi-wing flap offers even more protection, and though ultra-thin for portability, the bag can hold more than 10 times its weight!

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re:HELP! INEXPENSIVE DIGITAL CAMERA...WHICH ONE? on: February 26, 2004 08:28:17 AM
batteries are a PAIN. that's the main reason i won't invest in a good digital camera and would rather have my slr.

for the jamcam, they take those annoying (expensive) square batteries. I bought a square battery adapter that i thought would work to plug into the wall to use, but it didn;t for whatever reason

the fuji finepix takes AA batteries and  ib bought a couple of rechargable ones. otherwise i use the wall plug.

what sucks the most energy out of batteries is uploading to the computer, so i always plug it in for that

hehe. most of the pictures on this site:
http://www.simplethoughts.org/paperprincess
are taken with my super fancy slr non digital camera.

the jamcam can do pictures like this:
no flash:

flash:

 and this:

i would consider that a bad picture because i was in a changeroom and took a picture of the skirt with a big light above my head.

my tips for taking good pictures:
NO FLASH. i repeat: NO FLASH. i use a halogen lamp that's meant to light up a whole room and shine it on my object i'm taking a picture of, and take the picture VERY still, sometimes i brace my elbows or palms on something.

this is what that technique looks like on the fuji:

the fuji finepix was a free gift for my boss at a conference, and my dad scored it for free from his visa points as well. otherwise i think they're abotu 200 canadian. maybe less.
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re:Old Cassette Tapes... on: February 25, 2004 10:03:05 PM
i had stickers the size of baseball cards (i think?) that fit beautifully in the clear cassette compartment.
