BeagleMommy, I was browsing one of my fav blogs, and found this... http://www.designspongeonline.com/2007/10/diy-wednesdays-office-chair-upgrade.html
which should be helpful to you if you are still planning on doing this. Its better than the tutorial I saw before I did my chair, as it didn't really have proper instructions. Smiley

What a great looking computer chair! I love your fabric choice, too!  Smiley
Way to extend the life of a chair!

On a related topic, where would you point someone to learn how to do such a work of art? Books? Tutes? I'm really open to any suggestions on the topic as I have a horribly ugly computer chair. Thanks!

hmm i'm not sure about books, but when i was going to cover my chair, i found a site that kinda described what to do. but i was trying to find it again for you just now, but haven't come across it. its really not too difficult though, this was the first time i'd ever done anything like that.. just need a staple gun Smiley

these are so beautiful! they really make me want to try my hand at fondant even though i've heard so many horror stories about using it  Embarrassed the blue color is gorgeous!

fondant isn't really that hard to use, as long as you aren't trying to cover a really huge cake or  something(ive been less than happy with attempts to cover a cake cos of wrinkles in it. ). for cupcakes its not too difficult. used round cookie cutters to cut out a circle of fondant and put one on each cupcake. then decorated with the flowers. Smiley give it a try cos its fun Cheesy

my computer chair was in a very sad state, with the fabric having a hole in it that was getting bigger and bigger, allowing the foam stuff underneath to be seen. Plus it wasn't a very nice fabric to begin with...i forgot to take a photo of it before...but here it is after.

bought too much fabric as i was worried about not having enough. i haven't decided what to make out of it yet...

what did you make it for??

it was for a church craft night, they were selling stuff there to fundraise to do up the kitchen
...apparently they went pretty quickly Smiley

I was going to make them craft themed, had some ideas sketched out, but they involved using frosting, which I haven't really used it much, dunno how long it can keep for... and since I had to make the cupcakes in advance, I thought I'd better stick to fondant. The lilies are pretty simple to make, but what was frustrating me was that the stems kept breaking off. Tongue
