1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Coffee Cozy - 1st time without a pattern on: May 18, 2015 03:47:24 PM
This is the first time I've ever crocheted anything without a pattern. I just looked off a picture I found online.
2  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / CHALLENGE 108 ENTRIES / Wynonna Concert Scrapbook & more (pic heavy) on: May 15, 2015 10:23:53 AM
I created a scrapbook from photos and ticket stubs taken at Wynonna Judd concerts I attended. I also created a frame from photos taken when I met her and made a Wynonna doll in honor of the concerts and meeting her. If one thing needs to be chosen to be entered instead of all of these, then I would like to enter the scrapbook.

It says cherish the moment. Can't really read it in the pic.

ticket stub in the top corner of the page. Couldn't see it to well in the pic of the whole page.

It says memories in that bottom left and has some things about what happened written on the tag on the bottom right.

Ticket stub is in the top left corner, just not too clear in the pic. and says lovely day on the top left.

It says "Only passions, great passions can elevate the soul to great things." on the top right.

the tag says "One Sweet Day" and there are pink butterflies going up the right side above the tag.

Wynonna doll and frame. The top right corner of the frame has the meet and greet pass that says "Wynonna's guest" on it and the bottom left has what she said to me and what happened.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Needing Help Please on: January 09, 2015 09:40:50 PM
When I crochet hats the increase stitches are always higher than the other stitches. You can see where I put the two stitches in one for the increase because it sticks up higher. Also, where you join the rounds with a slip stitch it always seems to stick up higher than the rest of the stitches. I have a couple of hats I made where the hat comes almost to a point where the join stitches are. It's supposed to all be the same height, even the join stitches. Why do the increase stitches and join stitches end up being higher than the other stitches? It makes each round seem uneven and like I said a couple of times made there be a point to one side of the hat where the join stitches were. How can I fix this problem?

Also, if I have a pattern that says to use a 2.5 hook size and the smallest size I have is a 3.75 hook how can I use the 3.75 hook to make this or is it possible for it to turn out the right size if I use a larger hook?
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Selling on Etsy? on: May 26, 2013 04:58:04 PM
I was thinking of maybe starting to sell some crocheted items on Etsy. I was thinking coffee cozies/ mug cozies, all different kinds like ones here: http://pinterest.com/forhazel/mug-cozies/; coasters (possibly using these squares as coasters: http://zoomyummy.com/2012/09/20/crochet-3d-flower-squares-revisited/); head bands with flowers; coin purses like these: http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2012/04/crochet-coin-purse.html and little purses like this: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80313AD.html; etc. Just things that are kind of easy and don't take too long to make so I could make several if they happen to sell and so I could have a variety of things to offer. I may make stuff like amigurumi animals, scarves, and whatever else I happen to find patterns for that I like later on if I feel like sticking with something for a while (I tend to like crocheting things that don't take too much time to make so I don't get tired of just working on the same thing all the time).

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to start a shop on Etsy for crocheted items. I searched for crochet on Etsy and there were thousands of results. So, would it even be worth it to make crocheted items and try to sell on Etsy with so many of them already on the site (would the items sell)? It does take a lot of time to crochet items and I wouldn't want to make several items and then they don't sell on there, then be stuck with the items and no use for them (after spending the time making them). Any thoughts on selling crocheted items on Etsy would be appreciated. Thanks.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Ideas (for quick to crochet items) on: May 04, 2013 03:53:58 PM
I would like to make some crochet items to sell at a town wide yard sale that is coming up at the end of this month. Short notice I know, but I just thought of this. What are some quick and easy things to make and sell? Something that doesn't take too much yarn and is really quick to crochet that people would actually buy? I am thinking maybe coffee cup cozies, but not sure if those would sell too well and not sure what else I could crochet to sell. Any ideas would be appreciated.
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Fall Festival Party - ideas needed! on: October 04, 2012 09:54:44 AM
I am planning to have a fall festival type party, NOT a Halloween party, just fall festival. I need ideas for what type of things to make to decorate and what type of things to do... ideas for everything from table settings to games to decorations. This is my first time having this type of a party. It will only be for a small family gathering including my niece who is 5 and possibly (not certain yet) my other niece and nephew who are 2 and 3. I'm not sure exactly what all to do and most ideas I have come across online are for large festivals for like a church or school where there will be lots of kids/adults. I need some ideas for just a small gathering.
I was thinking a bonfire and have hot dogs to roast and smores. Other than that I'm not really sure. Maybe a small pumpkin for each kid to decorate? Then just have markers, paint, etc. for them to use to decorate it. And maybe 'goodie bags' for both kids and adults... but what to decorate them as and with? What to put in them (other than candy, of course)? I was thinking maybe those brown paper lunch bags decorated up like a scarecrow or pumpkin... but where to find the design. I've searched and haven't really found anything. There will be maybe 9 adults and 3 kids. Any and all suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

Note: I can not do hay rides, just not far enough out in the country and do not have anything for a means to do so with. Not enough kids to do that for anyway.

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / kindle case from vinyl record? on: December 04, 2011 06:56:25 PM
I have seen cases made out of vinyl records and would like to make one. Does anyone know how to make a kindle case from a record?
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking For Quick and Easy Crochet Throw Pattern on: September 29, 2011 09:12:16 AM
I'm looking for a really quick and easy throw pattern that I could make for my two step-sisters for Christmas. I need something that is really simple/easy to make and doesn't take too long to complete (I know with a throw it will take a while though) since I'm already making several other items as presents. I came across this: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-supe.html pattern and was wondering if anyone has made it and would like to know how easy it is and about how long it takes to complete. Also, any other patterns that wouldn't take too long to complete. Thank you.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What yarn is this? on: September 29, 2011 08:42:44 AM
I got some yarn from someone off of another message board and deleted the post. Now I can't remember who it was who gave me the yarn. I'm using the yarn to make a hat for my nephew and ran out of yarn. I don't know what yarn it is. I'm wondering if anyone here knows what type of yarn this is or any kind similar. It is really soft yarn that is light blue/gray:
