11  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I found a serger for sale.. opinions wanted. on: April 28, 2007 05:10:07 AM
So at my job there is this classifieds section on our website for employees to sell things.. and this is what someone was selling..

White Speedylock 4 thread serger.Approximately 2 years old, works very well. Comes with accessories and instruction book. $100.00 Call. XXX-XXX-XXXX

Now I know what a serger does and all that. Never used one before. Really don't do much sewing but am planning on starting up the hobby when it gets too hot outside to knit or crochet. I do have a sewing machine already. But I have some questions about sergers..

Does anyone have a white speedylock? I'm sure there are different models, and not sure which one this person is selling. What do yall like and dislike about this brand?

And does this seem like a good price? Since it's 2 years old and comes with the book?  I've looked online and a new white 4 thread is $230!

thanks so much for anyone and everyone who helps!
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Rowan Magazine on: April 26, 2007 05:43:28 PM
Does anyone where I can buy the rowan magazine in the states? Or online in the states? When I try and buy a US membership from Rowans website it tell me to log in and then I log in and it won't add it to the basket! So apparently I not worthy to buy it! So I was hoping for other websites. Ive searched but everything shipping seems to be so expensive! And with the mag already being $20.. well I guess it will be worth it! What you guys think?

Is it worth it first of all..

and where can I buy it in the US with cheap shipping or none at all? Or and stores that would carry it?

Thanks a bunch!  Wink
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / boye needlemaster vs. knitpicks options on: November 26, 2006 10:02:54 PM
Hi all!  Grin This might be some dumb questions, but I know it'll keep me up tonight if I dont know that I posted it here. So, I have the boye needlemaster. I would like to order more cables, but have no idea where or how. I was also wondering if you can use the knitpicks cables for the boye needlemaster? They look about the same in the pics on knitpicks.
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / $1 fun fur at michaels! whoo ha! on: September 11, 2006 08:56:33 AM
so on one of my recent but UNNEEDED adventures to michaels, I discovered about a thousand $1 skeins of that eyelash/fun fur type of yarn in the clearance section. I have no idea why it was so cheap! but most of it was patons brand stuff so I'm thinking the type of yarn was going out of production. Im not at home right now so ill write down the names later. So im planning on making scarves and maybe hats out of this and anything else I can think of seeing as I bought about 50 skeins. holy begeesis! and suggestions as to what the knit with this?  and what about prices? I have an etsy but havnt sold anything on it yet.. so maybe I'll use that.

THANKS!

I've just learned how to change colors in the round, so I dont think intarsia will be much harder, as I am a fast learner. (self-taught knitter here!)

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / tampon/pencil/? case on: July 25, 2006 06:36:17 PM

I made this back in January for tampons. I made sure to keep a tampon nearby so I would know how long to make it  Cheesy I made 2 different sides and then sewed them up. and the sides are in garter stitch because in january I had no idea how to do stockinette stitch. but it turned out good, I think. the buttons dont match exactly.. but i like it that way. I got the cable chain stitch from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1402727631/sr=8-3/qid=1153877703/ref=pd_bbs_3/102-8462369-5036150?ie=UTF8. what do u guys think?
