11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Budding Bootie Collection (my own design!) on: October 11, 2008 05:20:40 AM
I abosolutely adore them. Seriously. These are your own pattern? If you ever felt like sharing I would be knitting these up over and over, just because they are so incredibly cute!
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Looking for opinions on fulled purse embellishment!!!! on: October 10, 2008 07:55:54 PM
Hi Everyone -
I stupidly volunteered to make a purse for a local fundraiser auction, and I've never been confident enough to ever sell anything I make (I'm strictly gifts - no selly selly).

Anyhow, the purse is made, and I feel like it needs embellishment. I've taken some cruddy photos which are hard to see the colour from, but I'm looking for your help. Does any option look alright, or should I just knit something else....? Undecided

Here is the almost finished bag, ready for shaping etc (believe it or not it's a dark heathered green):

Should it have just the simple ribbon flower with a nice antique silver button for the closure like this (believe it or not all that ribbon is also a dark green):

Or should it be a bit more fun with a little bit of felt dots?

Can you help a sister out?

so cute--especially the orange one.

I'm trying to get a copy of that issue to make that sweater.

Is it knit top down? I'm trying to avoid lots of seaming!

There isn't a whole lot of seaming, and the red one uses 3needle bind off which I prefer to seaming.

Alrighty ladies, I'll get a little pattern typed up (I'll need to do another one to remind me exactly how many rows etc.)

I'll get back to you soon!

They both look great.  I think my favorite is the orange sweater.  I like how the buttons match her hair clip.

Did you use a particular pattern for them?

Yes - both patterns are from the spring issue of Knit Simple. The pon pon hoodie is supposed to be pink stripes and the flyaway cardi is also supposed pink. The striped on is adorable in the pattern colours - I just couldn't get the right colours at my LYS.

they are so very cute! i didn't know what a tombliboo was though so i looked it up and wow, disturbing! 1000% scarier than the teletubbies ever were, yikes!

I KNOW! They are very creepy, but she loves them for some reason. However, if you look at the Pontipines, I think they are cute enough to make up for the creepy factor of the other characters. Smiley
Thanks to all for the kind words. If anyone wants instructions for it, I'm happy to share.

That has to be one of the cutest things ever. I kinda feel like it does need a button - just a simple brown one sewn with orange thread or something.
I'm a huge huge fan of this piece!

My nieces like their little purses. They use them to put their Tombliboos in Smiley
I've used my watch for scale.

I LOVE knitting for babies.
These two are knit in Estelle Cloud Cotton (it is SO incredibly soft)

Beautiful. They make me wish I lived in a cooler climate, instead of Arizona!
Actually, Craftewoman, the purple one is a bit of a summer sweater. The cotton is light, and it's knit with needles larger than required for the yarn making it airier than it looks in the image. Only takes a few hours so it makes a great gift.
