1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ironing... on: February 12, 2011 03:07:56 PM
I have to say I've never enjoyed ironing. I've been doing it from a very early age (did all the family's laundry since 9 years old) and that might have something to do with it. I've just started to learn to sew and I saw this cute iron for sale at Jo-an's and I think I'm in love.

I like it very much. I'm new to sewing and I really like all the information I'm getting. Plus I'm on Ravelry.com (knitting & crocheting) and there is a "circle" from their on mysewingcircle.
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: New Sewer - Overwhelmed :-/ on: February 03, 2011 04:30:55 PM

Thanks for the pattern tutorial! Very cute and interesting looking pillow to make.

I'm also new to sewing, I've had my sewing machine in the box it came in for 6 years! I just took it out the other day and made an appointment for a sewing class next week. The closest class to me is 2 hours away. The upside is it's in Key West and you can't get a cooler place to learn than there. I'm determined this time to learn. I purchased "Sewing for Dummies" and I find it very interesting and informative. All the suggestions and support for beginners sound great.

Can't wait to get started Wink
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Let's see your sewing machine!! on: January 27, 2011 04:27:20 PM
This is my Singer Izek (150 anniversary edition) sewing machine:

It automatically sews 84 stitch patterns (and up to three combinations), five buttonhole styles, letters (block, script, or outline format), numbers, and symbols and allows you to create and save in the Game Boy memory--your own stitch patterns, letters, and designs. It works with a special sewing software cartridge that fits into the Gameboy.

Your pillow is absolutely lovely! What size/count fabric did you use?

Love it! I'm working on "Zombies only want you for your brains" right now from the kit
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ed Hardy cross stitch book?! on: July 27, 2010 05:18:18 AM
This is what the publisher says about it: Release date November 30, 2010-96 pages

This ain't your grandmother's cross-stitch. Ed Hardy's Love Kills Slowly Cross-Stitch is a counted cross-stitch book for a new generation of crafters. From pierced hearts to images of skulls and crossbones, Hardy's colorful, tattoo-inspired designs are perfect for stitchers looking for something bold and graphic. Each pattern comes complete with a full-color illustration of the original art, an illustration of the final product, and a full-color pattern and key. A how-to section teaches the basics of counted cross-stitch

Looks pretty cool!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Animated Cross-Stitch Short on: July 23, 2010 05:47:50 AM
Very cute video by Holly Klein. It took almost two years for her to complete as every element was stitched by hand, scanned into a computer, and then animated. It is too cute! Enjoy!

You did a great job.  I just received the Zombie cross-stich kit for my birthday from my brother. Cool to see one of the designs stitched up. Thanks for sharing.
