21  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Craft ideas to benefit service dog org? on: January 21, 2007 08:06:53 AM
Neck scarves for doggies would be pretty simple.  You could just have them cut out of pretty material or if they wanted to get fancy they could put the organization's logo or name on them.  (With iron on transfers or stencils or something).

Um, I guess along the same lines they could always apply their logo or what-have-you to t-shirts and simple (canvas) tote bags.  But there might be a little more expense involved in those.

Another thing my local SPCA has done is sells tickets for a handmade quilt.  They had a local craft supply store donate material and two of the employees made the quilt (ie, donated their time).  I think this might be a bit more of a bigger project then you're looking for, but hopefully the idea might help in some way!

I don't think this one was mentioned but Gaspereau Valley Fibres is fantastic!  I don't have much selection for wool where live and they came though for some fanastic Brown Sheep for a Christmas present.  They were extremely helpful and friendly- and shipping was pretty fast too!

28  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Random Yarn Help on: January 03, 2007 01:56:15 PM
One of my best friends is having a baby boy in April.  I would really like to knit a baby blanket.  My Mom gave me this 'Baby-Luv' yarn that my Aunt bought and gave her.  It came in a package of 3 balls all ready to make a baby blanket... but no pattern!  I guess that's why it was sold off for 3$.

I have googled the name but came up with nothing.

I have 3 balls - 4.94oz(140g) each.  It's 87% acrylic, 10% nylon, and 3% polyester.  Uses 9us/5can needles.

I am wondering if anyone has some pattern suggestions.  I'm fairly new to knitting, so while I look at patterns that use a different type of wool (say, a specific type of Lion Brand) I am not sure if this wool would be compatible.  That's why I am asking for help.

Experienced knitters please help.
