I live on a military base and let me tell you the stuff people put in their trash!! Look at this- its like a treasure trove if you can work a sander, a hammer or a sewing machine!!

I found these today! their iron I think... and the only think wrong? the upholstry is ripped!! can you say my sexy new kitchen chairs (now they just nee to throw out a table LOL)

its hard to see but its a dresses, my husband and it carried it 3 blocks to our hoouse. What wrong with it? the bottoms are falling out of the drawers, it just need a little glue and a few small nails, and yes a paint job!! ><

6  updating an old rocking chair so it really RAWKZ! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by eternal_ukyou on: March 23, 2006 03:53:17 PM
I've got this old rocking chair i got at the garage sale for $10, but it had these hideious floar coushions on it and terriable pink upholstry. I want to put it in my son nursery, so I need to update it. I've never done upholstry before but I have a pretty good idea on how to do it- but I need some help with fabric and painting-
first off here the chair:

I want to paint it black to match the rest of the room, but sanding all those little curves seems like a pain, is there an easier way?
And second, I want the reupholster the bottom and put cushion into it, not have a tie on one like it used to have, I know how to do all that but I don't know what kind of fabric to use I really like these:

http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-mod-cool-drapery-fabric-dots-stripes-contemporary-fabric-accord-br-black-white.aspx

http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-contemporary-fabric-dots-stripes-contemporary-fabric-circles-br-black-white.aspx

http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-velvet-fabric-cotton-velvet-deep-charcoal.aspx

http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-drapery-fabric-black-and-white-coordinates-diamond-br-black-white.aspx

Are any of these approprate?
If not the cool is done up in black and red, do you know of any better fabrics, that would feel some what decent on your butt when you sit on it.

Also, I'm not putting the ruffels back on, so once i staple the fabric to the underside whats teh best way to attch a trim on the edge? hand stitch? i don't wanna glue I don't think it would last....

any and all suggestions are appricated!!

thanks so much

me

7  Display idea, what do you think? in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by eternal_ukyou on: March 06, 2006 02:54:58 PM
I'm doing my first real craft fair with display in oct. I'll be selling Hand bags, Nusing aprons, baby slings, and hair clips (a little of everything LOL) I really want my display to be great and eye catching! so I did a little sketch of what I'm thinking of doing and I'de like some critque/critsisum on how I can make it better!
(excuse the baby drawing skillz LOL )

(bigger img here http://photobucket.com/albums/b225/eternal_ukyou/?action=view&current=DSC02023.jpg )

Part of what I'm wondering is should I make another set of stand to hang a peaice of fabric in the back to make it look clean? I don't wanna build anything huge cuze I'de have no way to trasport it so I'm trying to keep everything easy to break down and take apart.
Anyways what do you think?

Oh and I was thinking about having a bowl with free lolipops or something ediable on the table with my bixness card tied on with ribbon.

Also is have my buisness sign on the front of the table a little to much or is it ok? I'm just gunna make it out of fabric and paint.

Much love and Aloha
