1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / question.... frustrated!!! on: March 07, 2006 11:24:41 AM
hi all, i am getting super frustrated so i figured i should just ask to see if anyone can answer me this...
about a month ago i bought a silk screening kit, with the screen, paints, photo mulsion ect....
i covered the scren with the photo emulsion, let it sit in a dark closet, covered, overnight... came back th next day and burned my image onto the screen using a transparency and a 200 watt bolb, for a about 45 minutes.
it worked almost perfectly... after rinsing the screen(took about 20 minutes) i realized i should have left it under the bulb maybe a little bit longer, because it was a bit hard getting a few "specs" off the image. the
image came out pretty good on the fabric though.
sooo i went and purchased a bunch of screens online. i used the same photo emulsion(its says it can last up to a couple monthes) but i let the screen dry for i guess almost a week(i got kinda busy - oops!) and did everything else the same.  i burned (a different image) for about an hour this time, and when i went to rinse it off - didnt work.  after about 45 minutes, when the image wasnt rinsing at all - i lind the transparency back up and burned it for about another half hour - still the imag wouldnt rinse off at all.

does anyone have any ideas?  did i let the photo emulsion dry on th screen for too long? is it possible to burn the image too long? somebody help?Huh
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Where to Buy Vinyl Appliques on: February 15, 2006 01:47:10 PM
Anyone know any good places to purchase Vinyl Appliques???
I live on eastern long island, there is not THAT many places - a bunch of typical arts&crafts stores, and fabric stores - i always seem to find those "flower" or "butterfly" appliques, im guessing because i am in stores more geared towards arts&crafts.  I am looking for actual appliques made out of vinyl, such as a silhouette of a shape or design.

Does that make sense?
I CAN travel into the city, takes about an hour & a half, not very often though - what about ordering online?
Thanks so much Smiley
