1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Polishing Resin on: March 11, 2008 11:10:02 PM
i tried some wet sanding technique, i saw in a book about resin. the wet part didn't change my out come, i used the finest grit from the auto parts store and it still came out scratchy and cloudy:< will i ever master my resin?
2  Texas / Texas: Central / AUSTIN: Not Exactly *New in town, but........... on: March 09, 2008 10:00:05 PM
So, er my name is Elli, I am from the Big Easy- New Orleans. I have been living in Austin since the Great Tide of 2005, but i haven't really set out to find those like minded souls that make life a little easier. It's a long story. Anywhoo, I am a crafting mad-woman. I love to make jewelry most of all-mixed media, dominoes, and lego's mostly-i also knit and sew a tiny bit. i guess a point is in order: are there any stitch and bitch groups or crafty circles i can join or would anyone like to start one?

i saw the previous post about Rio Rita<definitely going to check that out>

resin is very sensitive, so remember warming it is also a delicate thing, you will notice it a bit more liquidy. warm water is your best bet.

where would you buy "paste wax"

i have a dremel, which i use on my domino/resin jewelry, i've been wanting to experiment with polishing.

Well..here is a major tip. Resin is very sensitive, especially to climate and humidity. So if your measurements are exact and still not curing then there is one thing you can still try. If you warm each component before you mix them, your resin will not only cure but you will rarely find bubbles! Good luck.

oh i actualyy stopped a minute and thought before continuing on my merry mad way. i thought "hmmmm, you are gping to burn that carpet. tisl tisk." and then... light bulb "i'll just put several layers of fabric underneath what i am working on" oh! and never once stopped to check if the carpet was doing okay.
there is a very long curtain length burn in the middle of our living room carpet, that my boyfriends shakes his head at everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what can you do but laugh.
