12  Sakura Lampshade in shades of white! in CHALLENGE 42 ENTRIES by sin esperanza on: September 05, 2009 01:06:59 AM
Here's the completed lampshade with the light on...

now for the story...
I'd told my sister that I'd make her a lamp for her room.  The theme for her room is white and pink with a Japanese boudoir theme.  So when I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I started out with plastic cutting mats ($5), tin foil ($2), white and silver glitter ($3) and 3 sprays of silver leaves ($6).  So spent a total of $15 new zealand on the lamp. So under $10 US!

I cut out many, many flower shapes out of the cutting mats.  Then I cut out slightly smaller shapes out of the tin foil.  I ended up with: 18 flowers with foil flowers on them, 15 flowers with white glitter, 12 flowers with silver glitter and 60 clear flowers.
I used the bases of the sprays of silver leaves to make two circular rings to form the base of the lamp.
Then I made several streams of flowers and stuck them on the top ring so that they fell on below the next ring (which is wider).

So this is what I ended up with!

I was fairly happy with it and as you can see from  this photo, so was the sister!!

oh and one more, just coz it is pretty.

comments most appreciated. xx

14  My First dress! with mustard flowers in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sin esperanza on: February 08, 2009 04:24:10 PM
Hi all,

I would like to share my excitement over the first dress I've made.  I followed Newlook 6675.  Was terrified of using a proper pattern in the first place and then had to make all these changes to actually maket it fit my body shape!  But it was quite fun and I have a pretty summer dress that is not off a rack.  Ha.

Me striking a pose:

This one shows the fabric and the zip of which I am inordinately proud!

Comments/criticisms welcome!

18  First ever 'Tree of life' pendant in autumnal colours in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sin esperanza on: July 17, 2008 03:40:38 PM
Hi all,

I made this for a swap but it has been received so I'm okay to post.  I used this tut and gypsymuse's alterations.  I used agate, some amber, some glass beads and some carnelian to give it autumn shades

Not bad for a first attempt?  Feedback appreciated.

I received my goodies!  Come have a look

group shot:

Two packs of incense (chocolate chip cookie flavoured! can't wait to try it), a set of runes, a beautiful velvet drawstring bag (that I think i'll keep my new runes in), an amazing painted trinket box with the runes for the changing season on it, a bamboo painted altar offerring plate, a necklace for balance and bracelet for stress relief that fits perfectly and is permanently attached to my wrist (hence not in the photos!)

the awesomeness of the fallen leaves themed runes

Close up of the bamboo plate and the necklace.

Thanks so much witchybelle4u2 for being such and amazing swap partner.  I love everything!  I think my favourite is the velvet pouch and the beautiful charms that are attached to the drawstrings!!

I really hope you like what i sent you...xx
