3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 3D flowers: leather collars on: February 28, 2009 08:12:38 AM
the first leather projects I ever made (like 10+ years ago) were leather cuff bracelets. I did not like how they turned out the first few trials, and I lacked the patience to keep at it. Fast forward about 7 years and I got back into leather. First sculpted flowers, then flat leather collars. Then I thought...well I could put these two together and make sculpted leather flower collars.
I think they are gorgeous...but I want to know what someone who didn't spend hours laboring thinks:) I mean that I am not exactly the most un-biased observer and I would LOVE To hear what YOU think...please?
this is the extra-large sculpted flower. the predominant leather (top) but the underside of all the petals is a dark burgundy leather, which adds dimension and contrast, to accentuate the 3D-ness of the flower

This flower is slightly smaller but not by much, so I call it the large sculpted flower (yes, there are medium and small too) this one is done in red with a sandy brown on the underside.

Thank you for looking!

I'm really dedicated to leather right now. I just love working with it, and there are so many other ideas I have that I haven't yet tried out.
here are some leather and stone pendants.
I'd really love to hear what you all think.

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Thrift store furniture, upgraded with black makeovers! on: December 02, 2008 12:13:53 PM
the slip covers are GREAT!! do you have any 'during' shots or a tute, or can you sketch out a rapproximate 'pattern' shapes.

I consider myself a pretty skilled sewer, but I spent hours on slipcovers for our dining chairs and they are HORRIBLE! ( I may have over-complicated the matter).
great job!!

7  UNITED STATES / New Jersey / Atlantic City - what are your MUST see/do/eat? on: September 27, 2008 07:41:01 AM
I'm headed to Atlantic City with my family (husband, 2 girls {2 & 4}, mom and dad).
I'm wondering if there are any FABULOUS spots you would recommend?
Galleries, museums, art/craft stores? Fabric or bead district?
gourmet bakery, fantastic restaurant, martini lounge, piano bar?
also, is the city divided into areas? like China town, little Italy or India....?
is there a particularly artsy area?
I'd really appreciate any help you can offer!
