1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / HELP! I need to make a toy for physics class!!! on: February 26, 2007 01:29:48 PM
Okay y`all heres the skinny,

For my grade 12 physics class, we have been asked to make a toy which demonstrates a change in friction or wind resistance.

I am thinking of maybe making either some kind of walking toy which has interchangeable feet with different materials.

Or maybe a batwing shirt or something?

HELP!  I HAVE CRAFTERS BLOCK!!!

If anyone has any idea, no matter how small it is, let me know.
Thank you all so much!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Present for Europe-bound Boyfriend! on: February 09, 2007 05:48:44 PM
Okay Everyone, here is the story:

I have been with my boyfriend, who is the love of my life, for over 2 and a half years now.  On March 26th he will leave for a 3 month adventure in Europe with his friends.

We have been apart for a month at a time before but this is big.

I want to give him something for Valentines Day that will remind him of me when he is in Europe, but will also be useful.

I was thinking maybe several pairs of screened boxers with my face on the front in glow-ink.  That will keep them pesky girls off him! Wink

Any other suggestions are more that welcome!

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Send in the... Gnomes? on: May 31, 2006 06:51:06 PM
Helo there!
For my art class at school, the culminating task this semester is to make a chess set.  Not an entire chess set, actually, but one of each of the pieces.  1 Pawn, 1 Rook, 1 Knight, 1 Bishop, 1 Queen, and of course 1 King.  I thought that it would be interesting if I used Garden gnomes for my chess set and did custom paint and fabric additions onto them.  BUT the problem is that I do not know where I can get some unpainted gnomes, I was thinking maybe Micheal`s?  Maybe? Here is the style of gnome that I am looking for (get a load of the price!!!)http://www.kimmelgnomes.com/
PLEASE if anyone has any suggestions (I already checked ebay) then please do not hesitate to post them!
Peace and Love!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / The truth about stencils. on: March 29, 2006 01:17:55 PM
Okay everyone, I am sort of new to silkscreening and I wondering what is the best material to make stencils out of?
Personally, I use blank newsprint for mine. Although, these are awful to try and reuse because the paper curls while drying.
I have heard that bristol board works well... this I will have to try.
There is alsothat age-old mystery surrounding the use of acetate.
What are your thoughts? Let me hear em.
