1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / HELP! I need to make a toy for physics class!!! on: February 26, 2007 01:29:48 PM
Okay y`all heres the skinny,

For my grade 12 physics class, we have been asked to make a toy which demonstrates a change in friction or wind resistance.

I am thinking of maybe making either some kind of walking toy which has interchangeable feet with different materials.

Or maybe a batwing shirt or something?

HELP!  I HAVE CRAFTERS BLOCK!!!

If anyone has any idea, no matter how small it is, let me know.
Thank you all so much!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Present for Europe-bound Boyfriend! on: February 09, 2007 05:48:44 PM
Okay Everyone, here is the story:

I have been with my boyfriend, who is the love of my life, for over 2 and a half years now.  On March 26th he will leave for a 3 month adventure in Europe with his friends.

We have been apart for a month at a time before but this is big.

I want to give him something for Valentines Day that will remind him of me when he is in Europe, but will also be useful.

I was thinking maybe several pairs of screened boxers with my face on the front in glow-ink.  That will keep them pesky girls off him! Wink

Any other suggestions are more that welcome!

My boyfriend`s 18th birthday is on July 4th and we have been together for over 2 years now, and he is absolutely used to me bombarding him with crafts (my speciality is silk screen) so I have no fear.  James is interested in politics and going to university for political sciences, but hes also a metalhead who listens to SlipKnot.
I wanted peoples imput of the list of stuff Im am getting slash making for him.

The List!

1)Tshirt that he designed a long time ago and he forgot about
2) One of these pillowcases mentioned in this thread
3) Asterix and Obelix 2 disc dvd (he`s french)
4) Trick Daddy CD (oh ya, and hes a sucker for Trick daddy)
5) Pillow to go in the pillowcase cuz all his are flat.

*I plan to sleep on the pillow for one night because you know how crazy guys go over smell*

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Send in the... Gnomes? on: May 31, 2006 06:51:06 PM
Helo there!
For my art class at school, the culminating task this semester is to make a chess set.  Not an entire chess set, actually, but one of each of the pieces.  1 Pawn, 1 Rook, 1 Knight, 1 Bishop, 1 Queen, and of course 1 King.  I thought that it would be interesting if I used Garden gnomes for my chess set and did custom paint and fabric additions onto them.  BUT the problem is that I do not know where I can get some unpainted gnomes, I was thinking maybe Micheal`s?  Maybe? Here is the style of gnome that I am looking for (get a load of the price!!!)http://www.kimmelgnomes.com/
PLEASE if anyone has any suggestions (I already checked ebay) then please do not hesitate to post them!
Peace and Love!
