3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / this may not go here. on: January 04, 2008 02:28:34 PM
Not sure where to put this, but does anyone know if when sewing a cloth diaper cover or AIO i can just use a cut up leak pad ( the kind with vinyl in them) as the waterproof layer? I want to have some made before baby gets here but the PUL fabric seems ridiculously expensive.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / hospital crafts on: December 20, 2007 07:53:11 PM
hi all, not sure if this is the right board..sorry!
So i'm 28 weeks pregnant and got rushed to a hospital 2 hours away from home on Tuesday night because i was bleeding and cramping and the placenta was seperating from my uterus ( sorry if TMI) well the bleeding stopped and baby is stable and compleatly oblivious anything is wrong so he's doing well and he is still inside..which is a very good thing! Well it looks like im going to be here for a while on bed rest being monitored and trying to keep this little guy in my belly, so what can I do? i don'ht know how to knit, or crochet, and im not a big fan of cross-stitching Hand-stitching is also out atleast untill some of the IV's come out. I really want to make something for him while im here I just dont know what. Help! Save my sanity, all I can do is lay around here and think about how tiny he is and how he's not ready to come out yet and it's driving me crazy!
Any craft would have to be something that i can send my husband for supplies for, and something that i can do flat on my back, i have IVs in so my wrists dont bend so well at the moment and glue and other strongly scented stuff is out. Thanks everyone! sorry for the long post!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / music nook on: December 04, 2007 12:22:57 AM
I posted this on a diffrent board a while ago but still need some ideas- hope thats ok!
This will be the last Christmas my husband and I will have ( for a very long time ) where it's just 'us', we're expecting a baby in March. So I was  hoping to be able to give him a space that's just his for Christmas. Our bedroom has a little office space in it, it's about 10' x 8' and I was going to turn it into a music space, the rest of the room is decorated in browns and cream, so i was hoping to not stray too far from that for this space. One of the walls in there is an light olive green and has the only window in the room.
Because of the window I don't really want to close it off from the rest of the room, but i was thinking about maybe hanging sheer curtains to seperate it?
Basically im at a loss of how to decorate it, I was planning on adding big floor pillows for seating and curtains for the window, I need room in there for his bass' and guitars ( 4 total, we have a stand for 3 of them ) and music books. He lived in Thailand for a while and loves the decorating theme, so i was thinking about trying to incorporate that somehow without it being overwhelming. He's mostly into Christian music ( Kutless, 3 days grace, casting crowns..ect ) he will ( hopefully ) be becoming a police officer in January, and is super excited about being a dad. I need help! Were renting so I cant paint, but i can use nails...i need something for the walls and window mostly, and storage for his books. And of course as always the more inexpensive the better! sorry this is so long.
Thank you! This is what the room is shaped like

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tie for my brother on: February 21, 2007 08:04:30 PM
So i got an email from my brother yesterday telling me just how much he loved and a whole bunch more buttering up, eventually he got around to asking me to make him a camo tie for his prom...this is what I came up with what do you think?
My husband doesn't wear ties so i didn't have anything to compare it to, so i guessed at the measurements, does this look about the right size? He's a little taller than me if that matters.
onto the pics Smiley
