1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Pippi Knee Stockings Help Please on: May 27, 2006 03:03:26 PM
Hi, I'd be very grateful if anyone could give me some advice here. I've completed the first sock (and this is my first time knitting socks!) down to the heel flap. The heel flap is done and I've turned the heel and followed the instructions as far as

"K4, change to D, pm, k4 with needle 1."

At this point there are only eight stitches on my heel needle (there are 26 on the other). It's the following instructions that I'm having trouble understanding:

"*Cont with needle 1 and, holding an empty needle in your right hand, insert the empty needle from front to back in the next elongated st (the sl st of the heel flap) and k tbl; rep from * 13 times more - 18 sts on needle 1."

I'm due to do a purl row, but the instruction is to increase by k tbl - this is a knit stitch so how can I do that with purl (without messing up the st st pattern)? Also, when it says to rep 13 times more - am I repeating whole rows of knitting in stocking stitch (while adding 1 at the start of each row) or do I add 13 extra stitches on the one row of knitting?

Hope this makes sense Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Can I Un-Felt? on: March 06, 2006 06:46:58 AM
Hello! I knit the go go garter scarf from the first SNB book and it turned out lovely. I knit it with 100% wool chunky. I wore it and loved it Cheesy
But then I threw it absentmindedly into a regular 40degree wash, and now it is half the size it was and all felted together Sad
Is there *any* way I can fix this? Or even rip it? The way it is at the moment it's just a waste.
Thanks for any help or advice.

Hi, this is my first time knitting socks and I'm only on the second stripe but I can't help but ask - would it not be a thousand times easier to knit this on circular needles? At least until you get to the shaping. Or is it just me who can't seem to get used to double pointeds?
