1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Need help with Ashford Traveller! on: March 09, 2007 01:31:46 PM
Ok, I got the most awesome deal ever on an Ashford Traveller...$29.99 at a local antique store, and they were more than happy to get rid of it.  they said they never thought it would sell because "who would want a spinning wheel?" and I just smiled and walked out with it.  I've never had a double drive before, and it came with all of its bobbins and everything, but no drive bands or brake band.  I have no idea how to put these bands on...can someone help?

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / YO in a Lace Scarf pattern...HELP!! on: October 05, 2006 08:25:18 AM
Has anyone knitted the Trailing Fuschia Lace scarf pattern?  I'm confused about the instructions in row one that say: p2, yo, ssk, p2, k2

I have never yo in this sequence, and I'm wondering if I should simply bring the yarn to the back of the work, or wrap it around.  Any suggestions?
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Stars and Stripes on: May 30, 2006 07:01:33 AM
My Grandpa came over for Memorial Day, and being a former Marine he requested that I spin a "patriotic" skein of yarn.  Well, how can you say no to Grandpa?  Here it is:

From spinning this skein I learned that I LOATHE sequins!  I thought they would be very similar to spinning in beads, but I was wrong wrong wrong.  Still, I really like the effect!
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / What I've been up to... on: April 10, 2006 07:21:56 AM
I haven't posted any of my yarn in a while, so I thought I'd share what I've been up to:

I spent quite a bit of the weekend spinning, which seems to be a trend in my house these days!

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Hippie Chic skirt from Hooked on Crochet book on: February 15, 2006 07:51:26 AM
Ok guys, this is the first project I am posting to Craftster so forgive me if I don't do the pics right.  I promise I will come back and fix it if I don't!  I started making this skirt during the summer of 2005, and it kept getting pushed to the backburner to make room for special orders that were coming in.  Then Christmas came...you know how it goes.  I designated February as my UFO marathon month, so the skirt came out of it's bag once again.  It has been on many plane rides and even through Jury Duty with me, so I am thrilled to be finished.  I used mother of pearl buttons as suggested in the book, but chose white for the color instead of green.  Mine is a little shorter than the one in the book as well, but I thought it was the best length for my height.  Here it is!

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Craft Fair Advice on: February 01, 2006 07:51:19 PM
I don't know if this counts, but...I made a huge mistake when I had a booth at a craft expo this summer.  It was outdoors in the GA summer sun, but I thought that by staying under a store bought "sun shelter" that I would be protected from the sun.  The result was the worst sunburn I've ever had.  It didn't look like I even sat in the shade.  I know that those things are pretty popular for craft fairs (at least around here!) and maybe I'm the only one dumb enough to have done this, but I just wanted to pass along the advice.  Definitely wear sunscreen!
