1  Blue Zebra Covered Computer Chair! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by robotgirlomatic on: January 12, 2007 09:21:01 PM
Okay this was my first real attempt at anything like this
so i didn't do anything fancy i just used my handy dandy
hot glue gun and my super duper staple gun anyway so heres the
before and afters
(please pardon my messy room Tongue)

BEFORE: a drab, nasty blue standard office colored
computer chair that had to go!

this is a close up of the most boring color you've ever seen

AFTER: bright and snazzy i cant tell you how totally
in love with this chair i am.. i'm thinking about adding pink lace
around the edges to spice it up a little and to cover up my crappy
handywork - which thankfully isn't that obvious in the pictures >_<

Thanks for reading Cheesy

2  Hoodie Wrap Help!! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by robotgirlomatic on: December 18, 2006 08:15:48 AM
Okay so i'm REALLY new at sewing and i felt like going nuts.
i bought this amazingly cute fabric and i wanted to be ambitious and make a hoodie out of it so i need help! heres a very very basic drawing of what i'm thinking of

Click for un-resized version
(one side is 16" cause i dont have enough fabric to have 22" on both sides whoops i should've bought more fabric)

i want this to be ONE piece of fabric with a hoodie and sleeves sewn on
so its MINIMAL sewing since i'm doing it by hand.

what i'm having a hard time figuring out
- how/where to attach the sleeves
- what the measurements should be at the top because my hips are HUGE and all the shirts i own have about an 18" shoulder measure

what i have
- a block of material thats 60" by 27" not cut into anything yet
and some left over to make sleeves and a hood

help?

4  Very First Dolly in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by robotgirlomatic on: September 23, 2006 12:36:26 PM
okay this idea was totally and completely stolen from Paperdaisies
she made the most radtastic dolly ever in her thread here

and i made an attempt mind you this is the 2nd thing i've ever sewn and i hand sewed it so its a little bumpy in places and the stitching shows on the outside.. and its messy. but anyway

the big bump in the back of her shirt is where i put the velcro
cause i plan to make many little outfits for her. i'm gonna hem the shirt cause its a bit messy.

anyways thanks for looking Cheesy!!

5  Hand Sewing - stitches Help? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by robotgirlomatic on: September 23, 2006 12:31:52 PM
i am very new to sewing and my only real expirence with sewing was in a horrible home ec class i had back in middleschool. all of my dolls so far i've hand stitched together and everytime i turn them inside out to stuff them my stitches show, they sort've poke out.

i dont know how to explain what i mean

see along the sides of the lighter fabric that makes up his tummy??
i get alot of those little bums and you can see little bits of the thread. mind you this is my first attempt at sewing.

What kind of stitches do you guys use? what could i do to get rid of that? am i turning them inside out too roughly or something? sorry if this is in the wrong part of the board im just specifically working on toys

thanks so much for reading!!
