1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Reupholstered Kitchen Table Chairs on: November 24, 2007 05:22:17 PM
We got this beat up kitchen table from some friends, and I've been hating the fabric covering them for over a year. Today, I bought some new fabric, some new batting, and fired up the staple gun. From start to finish, this project took about 1.5 hours. Now I feel dumb for having hated these chairs for so long...

Before:

First, I removed the seats (which popped right out) and used a hammer to pull out the nails. Then I took off the nasty fabric and the even nastier foam and promptly threw them in the garbage.

I didn't exactly measure, but laid the now bare chair seat on fabric and new foam, cutting the foam to match the surface of the seat exactly, and the fabric a little bigger, since I would be stapling it to the bottom of the chair seat.

Staple, staple, staple, lay the seat back in the chair, and voila! Newly reupholstered chair cushions, and no more hating to sit in my kitchen!

2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Nacogdoches, Texas on: September 25, 2007 11:42:30 AM
Hi Crafsters!
My name is Chrissy. I've had an on-again, off-again relationship with this site for a while, but now that I am totally done with school I hope to have lots more time for making stuff. I'm originally from New York but moved to Texas three years ago for my boyfriend (luckily, we're still together!). I'm a writer, a book reviewer, a librarian, a blogger and League Manager/skater for the Piney Woods Roller Derby.

My favorite crafts are zines, book binding, sewing and embroidery. I also like to make knick-knacks - magnets, shrines, home decor. I like art and crafts that are functional as well as decorative. I've recently become obsessed with craft swaps, so if you're into that kind of thing I'm sure we'll run into each other on the boards.

And if I haven't bored you enough already, check out my blog at www.christinehennes sey.blogspot.com.
