Our craft club is heading down to Buffalo in a couple of weeks and would love some advice from local crafters about where to shop for jewelry making supplies and other crafty things. We found 2 Joann's locations online - Transit Rd in Williamsville and Military Rd in Niag. Falls. Is one better than the other? Which Target store is the biggest or best in the area? We also found some listings for bead stores - Bead Gallery and Bead Creative. Would you recommend either or both? Also, advice on how to bring all the stuff we buy back across the Canadian border without having to pay duty and taxes on all of it! Just kidding, hee hee. We don't have a Cracker Barrel in Canada, so we can't wait to have brunch there.
Thanks for the great idea. The next time we have friends over for dinner I'll make personalized wine charms for each of them. I've never worked with Shrinky Dinks so I get to learn something new.
Wow, you really did a lot of work compiling all of those dishcloth patterns. For that reason alone I'm going to make an effort to join you and make some. Besides, who can't use a few more dishcloths? Here are some more patterns to add to your list.
Are you able to take a photo of the inside of the bracelet? Someone who crochets may be able to see the stitches better that way and help you out. Very cute bracelet.
Thanks. I used 20 gauge sterling silver wire on the first one. The second one reminds me of an x's and o's game board. I twisted 2 strands of 28 gauge gold wire together and then wrapped the shell.
I got lots of advice on what to do with paua shell on the discussions board. Apparently the shell dust is highly toxic when inhaled so you wouldn't want to drill a hole in it. This wire wrap process was really quick and easy.
Your cardigan is adorable. I've had problems with one of her patterns as well. Here's a link to her pattern revisions. They blame it on printing errors - guess it's easier than taking the blame yourself for not proof reading.
You've got to go to Elora - it's only about 20 min. away. Gecko Beads has tons of jewelry supplies, the Yarn Bird is great for knitters and Styll is an amazing place to see what some very talented artisans have made. Here's a link to some of the shops there:
