31  Re: BAG CHALLENGE :1: NIFTY THRIFTY! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by Margarita Miss on: March 31, 2006 06:52:14 AM
I started with a free Estee Lauder Gift with Purchase.  Then I bought a one pound bag of factory mill ends from the Spinrite factory outlet.  It had 12 odd sized balls in it for $2.99.  I used 2 balls of that to knit kind of a slip-cover for the bag and sewed it on around the bag opening.  I had a small piece left from a silk scarf that I previously had cut up to make a belt out of so I covered the small zippered pouch with that.  I think that's my favourite part of the project.  I really only paid for the 2 balls of yarn so this project only cost 50 cents.  If she needs a name, I'll call her "Estee with a new perm".

32  Striped baby sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by Margarita Miss on: March 21, 2006 01:01:09 PM
This is my favourite stash-buster I've made yet.  I based it on a Debbie Bliss pattern, just using a simple cotton instead of the wool it called for and then when I couldn't find the right colour buttons, I decided to just knit some baubles and sew them on instead.

33  Scarf / Neckwarmer with Slit in Knitting: Completed Projects by Margarita Miss on: March 09, 2006 08:16:04 AM
It's still cold in Canada so even though it's already March, I'll still get a lot of use out of these.  I loved knitting them because each one really only took an evening to do.

34  Re: A Bag a Month Craftalong? in Craftalongs by Margarita Miss on: February 24, 2006 01:02:57 PM
Okay, here's my Feb. bag.  I had some very thin nubbly yarn in my stash so I knit it up in a bobble pattern, then lined it with a fabric scrap.  The fabric is kind of stiff and has a strange coating on it and it repelled my sewing maching needle so I hand-sewed the lining on and then hand-sewed the zipper too.  Won't be doing that again.  Then I had some gimp trim that matched for the handle.  It's small, but holds everything a girl could need for a night out.
Kind of fuzzy, but this is a close-up of the knit pattern

Pudruff, I love your bill box.  It makes me want to do something with buttons!  Here's one I made with postage stamps on the lid covered with clear laminating sheets and a piece of wallpaper on the bottom.

This is the first Craftalong I've joined.  I made 3 wine bottle gift bags for my January project.  Pretty simple, but this way I can work my way up to something a little more challenging each month.  Love the black crochet bag, Aneesah and Fort Loop, the monster bag is amazing.  Thanks to Craftster for making uploading photos so easy.
