11  Re: Stitch Marker Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by niftyknitter on: August 06, 2007 01:09:54 PM
I received today!!!!! And my package ROCKS!!!!!!!!! I love everything that I got, my partner was yarnmafia was soo thoughtful and such an awesome! crafter!!!!!
Sooooo here are the goods! (sorry the pictures suck but I am stuck using my stupid camera until my sister gets home and i can borrow hers, but i was too excited about posting what I got that I couldn't wait that long!)

The box that they came in Smiley the picture of butterfly by rowan on the front is extremely appropriate b/c I am planning to start knitting her as soon as I get back to my school where I stupidly left my knitpicks needles (brought the yarn for her home and everything... but the needles Angry )

Ans inside the box was a pouch!! And this was probably my favorite thing ever! I love the yarn that it is made out of it is sooo soft and stretchy and in my absolute favorite color combo, pink and lime green!!!!!

Here are some awesome skull and crossbones markers that make me looke like a bad a$$  Grin and some pretty green ones that are removable that are very cool

And the most awesome set ever! The Butterfly set, to go with my upcoming project!!! I love them sooo much, they are so dainty and beautiful... they are really awesome!!

Here is the awesome cars she sent me!

And lastly here is a picture of the whole shebang, at the top is a ball of really nice cotton/linen yarn that I love that she wrapped the first box in, I wish I had gotten a picture of it wraped but I was too excited to open it to wait to put batteries in my camera Smiley

I love love love everything I got!!!! Thanks so much Yarnmafia!!!

12  Fiber Friday 8/3/2007 in Spinning: Completed Projects by niftyknitter on: August 02, 2007 08:23:44 PM
I know I'm jumping the gun a bit but I couldn't wait till tomorrow b/c IT FINALLY CLICKED!!! It took me awhile but you guys were right it just finally clicked and I could spin on my new wheel Smiley I am in love with my little Kiwi and must buy the fast flyer as I nearly broke the poor thing treadling like a madperson(j/k kinda)!! so w/o further ado... here are the goods!

My 1st yarn: about 120 yds of worsted to bulky weight mill end single.... I just used some of the smaller more homely bits of mill ends i had as i still was definitely in practice mode, but it started to click by the end

My second skein of the week is 2 ply, 100 yds mostly worsted weight from Mill Ends I dyed with Wiltons (some bulky and DK weight but getting more even the more i spin Smiley )

Lastly  2 ply 270 yds of (mostly) Fingering/Lace weight Mill Ends dyed with Wiltons

And a group shot... mmm looks tasty its a fibery feast

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

My first wheel spun post! a mere 26 yards I still need to get the hang of the wheel my yarn keeps breaking or getting twisted around other parts of the wheel and i can't get my wheel to stop squeaking no matter how much I oil it but I am excited to finally try my hand at spinning on a wheel Smiley

14  I GOT A WHEEL!!!!! in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by niftyknitter on: July 26, 2007 05:57:02 PM
I was  Grin sooo excited Grin and everyone in my family thinks my craftiness is really craziness but I knew y'all would understand the excitement factor.  It is my first wheel ever, i got it used from my local knitting/spinning store... the store owner is super nice... i went in there just to look and maybe try out some different wheels that she had in stock, she knew that my budget was pretty tight so she offered to sell me a lightly used Kiwi for $130!!! So basically I am so so so so happy right now and am now sitting down trying to learn how to spin on a wheel properly... wish me luck, and maybe by next weeks fiber friday i will have some wheel spun yarn to contribute!!!

17  Debbie Bliss Alphabet Baby Blanket in Knitting: Completed Projects by niftyknitter on: July 07, 2007 08:17:33 AM
Hey,
I finished this in December but I didn't put the pictures on my computer until now.  Its the Alphabet Blanket from the Baby Knits book as well as a pair of booties that I made with the leftovers to go with it.  It took me forever since I was in school most of the time I was knitting it.  Most of it was done at the end of summer break and durring winter break.  I used Shine Sport in cream... I love this yarn! Its soooo soft!

2nd fiber friday post today, only cause I spent the whole day in a waiting room so i got a lot of spinning done... about 115 yards of mill ends that i dyed w/ wiltons... its the rainbow roving from my first post, but now that its spun up it reminds me of the colors of shock tarts candy so that s what I'm going to call it... dont mind the body wash bottle I'm using it to weigh the yarn down a bit while i set the twist...

"Shock Tarts"

Hey,
My first fiber friday posting!!
Here is some mill ends that I dyed in shades of green... it looks all one shade in the crappy picture i took ( i need to learn how to take good pictures of my yarn!) but its kinda variegated.

I also have been dying my little heart out ever since i stopped by the cake decorating section of my walmart and got some wiltons dyes.  I'm going to spin up the rainbow one when i go with my mom to her treatment today. Thats one good thing about spinning w/ a drop spindle, very portable Smiley

from the left: Army, bubble gum, fire, and rainbow
