31  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12-point Star Blanket~along (a.k.a. Round Ripple) on: August 23, 2008 08:36:53 AM
As per the ruffling issue:

I started a blanket with redheart yarn and a size H hook, but the points are ruffling up. Any suggestions? Should I rip out and start over with a smaller hook? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

I figured it out! I'm an idiot and decided after Row 5 that I had the pattern memorized and never noticed that you do a small shell every third row. Had to rip it out back to row 7 but its looking good now. Prog pix soon. Thanks!

33  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Would you knit this? (or wear it ?) on: June 27, 2008 10:40:25 AM
So I LOVE it! i showed it to my frends and they were so disgusted. My boyfriend said he won't be see with me in it. haha. They know me, I love crazy stuff. I plan on knitting it anyway! I'll knit it in dusty teal with a seed stitch and a few lines of cables along the length to make it more interesting. Just have to finish my anthropologie-caplet first.

Just cast on for this last night with Bernat Softee Chunky in a light grey color. I had to mess with the calculations b/c of differing gauge and body measurements. This is super easy and fast! I'm making super fast progress, I just hope all calculations were correct and it fits.

Its a squeaky feel to me, not a squeaky sound. Weird, huh? I'm sure there are some cool varieties out there, too!

haha! I know exactly what you mean!

I am a super poor grad student so I pretty much only use acrylic or acrylic blends, but then again, I never can seem to finish a wearable. I always used RH for scarves, blankets, hats, gloves, etc. Recently I got a bunch of Caron Simply Soft for an aghan and I dont know if I'll buy RH again! I keep splitting stiches on the SS, which is annoying, but it feels so much nicer. I snapped up 6 skeins of charcoal wool that were mega-on-sale once, b/c I just couldnt pass it up. But then it seemed so precious I have never been able to figure out what to do with it. The one benefit of buying more expensive yarn, I would think, is that my stash would dwindle, b/c I couldnt afford to keep feeding it. Maybe I'd actually finish something more complicated than a hat!

How did you rivet the bottlecaps on? Are the edgrs of the bodycaps hammered down? They dont appear to project too thickly on the belt or look to sharp. This is AMAZING!  I WISH I had the tools and talent. My stepdad does leatherworking and I only just bought resin.

hmmmm.....next time I get home to visit...........

YES!!!!!!!  I bought this issue of Knit.1 especially for this pattern and I was DYING to make it, but then this pesky thesis got in the way. Damn graduate school! This has GOT to be a summer projects of mine.

I wonder how it would look in irridescent beads? Those black gassy looking ones? Faux pearls would be awesome if the hole is big enough. I'd love to see that! A pattern would be cool too.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.  I am moving across country in July and I need to STASHBUST before I leave. I have some Patons wool.  It's a pretty substantial worsted.  Maybe I could just do the math for a smaller gauge or make a size too big.  Hmmmm......

I really want to do this.  I'm trying to start projects I dont need new yarn for though.  What yarn do you plan on using?  I'm wondering if I need a thick weight. That gauge is pretty big.
