11  Re: Dress reconstruction... in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by dexterchickk on: June 29, 2006 09:25:30 AM
I like the idea of adding lace/tulle.  You could make this a totally new dress without a permanent tranformation.  Add a wide band of lace under the bust.  You could also put a ribbon.  I also love the ides of tulle/lace underskirt.  It would make it fresh and young looking:

Ok, so finally...here are the pix.

I think mine is a little shorter than the LAMB version, so just add a few more rows after Row10 if you want it longer.

here's my loot from yellowblanket!

Some awsome beaded jewelry and a supercute orange pouch.  She edded some orange lipgloss and some tasty soap!  I can't stop playing with the magnetic closures. Grin

I was surfing for new fun patterns on Berroco.com and I stumbled upon the album.  Look at this pic I found!

These are so cool.  Wouldnt it be amazing to get married in a dress like this?  Winter wedding, I suppose.  If only I had the ambition, talent, $$, and TIME!!

15  My anthropologie necklace! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by dexterchickk on: March 17, 2006 09:13:15 AM
Here's a necklace I recently made.  I was inspired by the anthropologie necklace here:
http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=9630&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=1181&iMainCat=336
My version:

I got some wide metal chain(lightweight or you'll break your neck)and wrapped it in long thin strips of silky fabric.  Some were sheer- these worked best- the stretchy material was a pain in the butt, as was the lace, but I like the look.  I just ripped strips about 1/4 an inch wide.  Where the ends met I used some metallic gold thread and stitched the strips in place, then wrapped the thread around the link for about a 1/4 inch or less and wove in the ends.  I finished the necklace with a string of pearl-like beads and bobble buttons on some oversized saftey pins.  Let me know what you think!  I still have a lot of chain left and I'm thinking of wrapping the whole length and then wearing it doubled--this will take a LONG time though, so it may just become a few bracelettes(sp?) for gifts Grin

(I'll try to get a better photo later)

16  2 embroidered bags--1st project post! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dexterchickk on: March 07, 2006 01:23:45 PM
So, like many of us, I made my Christmas presents this year.  Here are two bags I made for the twenty something gals in my close family.  The peacock was my own design and the unicorn was an iron on embroidery design.  I happened upon the sequining accidentally.  I first just embroidered the outline of the unicorn, but I thought the material's print was a bit distracting in the middle, so I filled in the body with clear irridescent sequins.  It took a long time, but it was alot of fun!  I think I'll do more.  Sorry the pix are so bad.  I took hasty ictures before wrapping them and I they looked fine on the small screen of my digi.  The lighting is bad and the beads/sequins are reflecty, but I think you can get the gist.

The unicorn bag has eliptical shaped wooden handles attached with tabs

17  Gucci Jacket in Designer Clothing Homage by dexterchickk on: March 02, 2006 02:52:56 PM
I DESPERATELY want to make this jacket.....problem is, I live in New Mexico now and really have little need for it; however, if I start it now, maybe I would actually finish it for next winter.  Of course, then I'll be bummed I can't wear it.  Maybe I can make it lighter, but I dont want to loose the drape.  Any ideas?  If I do make it, I think I'll make the skirt bit a little more A-lined.

Hope this works, this is my first image post
