21  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: toddler slippers (pattern on pg.2) on: September 28, 2006 10:14:46 AM
Thank you superlisa for sharing the pattern for these slippers!  Smiley
Here are two pairs I made for my nieces.  They both are girly girls and love pink, purple and pom poms.  My camera made the purple look a little blue. Huh   I used Caron Simple Soft Brites in Grape and Watermelon, stranded together.  I used purple puff paint on the bottom to help prevent the girls from slipping.

These were superfast and easy to make.  It actually took me longer to make the pom poms than the slippers.  I never made pom poms before. Undecided    Thanks again superlisa!   Grin

Sorry, no suggestions here.  But a request, please post pics when you are done.

My husband is English and just loves The Young Ones.
I'm so curious to see how it comes out.

Good Luck with the hair!

Thanks for your replies DisneyFan and bixby2!

That Caron Simply Soft sounds familiar, I'll have to check my stash.  I was thinking of using Red Heart, do you think it's soft enough?  I guess after repeated washings it would soften.

Anyway, Thanks again for the suggestions!  Smiley

26  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / yarn question... on: August 21, 2006 04:32:45 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm moving from crocheting scarves to other items now.  I would like to make the Lacy Shell poncho found here: http://www.luv2crochet.com/freepatterns.html

She uses TLC Cara Mia yarn, which is an angora/acrylic blend yarn.  I'll be crocheting this for my nieces who are being raised vegan by their vegan parents and I would like the yarn to be animal free.  The pattern says you can use any medium worsted weight yarn.

Any suggestions as to brands equivalent to the TLC Cara Mia?  I'm still learning the differences in yarn weights and plys and worsted/baby/fingering etc.  All of which confuse the hell out of me.  Undecided   Huh

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

This website is awesome!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Those are Awesome!   Shocked

I'm sure you're niece will love them.  I know I would love to receive a gift like them in the mail!

When I finally embroider, I hope my items come out at least half as decent as yours!  Great Job!   Grin
29  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: more pillowcase madness... on: August 03, 2006 02:48:42 AM
floresita,

That is just beautiful!  I love the flowers, great color and chunky.  I'm sure whoever you give it to will adore it.
Personally, I'd be too afraid to use the pillow case.  Woudln't want to ruin such a pretty thing.  Are embroidered pillows more for show or for actual use?

I MUST learn embroidery, but I have no idea where to begin.  Sad
