So my friend has gained some weight over the years and had recently decided to start dieting and exercising.  I heard somewhere that journalling is good when you are trying to lose weight, and that's where the idea for this collaged journal cover came from.

    I'm crazy about collaging!  I have a subscription to so many different magazines, it's insane!  I have to recycle somehow.  So I was super bored one day and just decided to make cover this journal I have.  The cover was just plain black... and boring.

I just glued the clippings on with elmers glue and then covered that with clear packing tape as a kind of sealer.  It worked good, but there are a few creases in the tape.  I'm liking the way it turned out.


   

    For my senior year of high school there was a dress up day for homecoming I don't know if your school did anything like this, but they gave out prizes for the best costumes and such.  I decided that my friends and I
needed to win this so I came up with the idea that we dress up as KISS.  
    I decided to be Gene Simmons, because, of all my friends, I had the longest tongue.  Anyway, we made our costumes the night before and figured they would turn out crumby, but when we put the makeup and hair on, it was AMAZING!  



     Needless to say, we won the costume contest, but I couldn't retire my Gene Simmons costume.  So I wore it again for Halloween the next year.



    This costume is basically a swimsuit painted silver, a couple pair of black tights, a a black longsleeved shirt, a garbage bag cape, lots of duct tape, a couple plastic bowls covered in aluminum foil for the shoulder pads, black and white face paint, black hair spray, some huge platforms (which fate had me find at Good Will) and a patch of chest hair (black faux fur)

It is by far one of the best costumes I've ever made!

I decided that I was going to be Poison Ivy for Halloween back in the summer, but I really procrastinated on my costume.  
      When I finally got started I gathered up all the ivy I could get my hands on! (A huge garbage bag full)  I bought this huge silky green floor length skirt from goodwill for 5 dollars, not a bad deal.  I figured somehow it would turn itself into a sexy tight little dress.  I never really think these things through.  
       I got to work on it about a week before halloween.  (I'm famous for procrastinating)  Being that my mom is a magician when it comes to these kinds of things, she told me where to pin and how to sew it and cut and all that.  I hope to be as good as she one day.
       After my dress was sewn up and good to go, I sewed on a million little pieces of ivy by hand.  I had hoped to cover the entire dress with ivy, but after a while I just got sick to death of looking at it.  I think in the end I made a good choice.  
        I used some temporary hair dye to get it that color, I'm a blonde most of the time.  On the whole, I was super pleased after it all came together.

        I got the gloves and eyebrow things from a friend who has a sister that was poison ivy once for Halloween, but these things were made for the costume too.  So it was pretty much all homemade.

I'd seen all these shoe revamps on Craftster and was feeling really inspired.  I found an old pair of flip flops in the basement.  They'd only cost me 2 dollars at Walmart and I had only wore them once.  I figured maybe I could revamp these flip flops.  I had thought it would be simple enough. They weren't ugly.  This is what they looked like before I did anything to them.  

While looking for inspiration I saw these shoes on the internet.  
 
I was very attracted to them.  I felt that the gladiator style was becoming quite a popular trend and I figured I may as well jump on it early.  Of course this was a very challenging project.  That's in my nature though, I suppose.  I choose things that are a bit too challenging.  I thought about giving up a few times, but I managed to finish them.       I ripped the sandal off the sole and covered it with some leather.  I drew out patterns for all the other pieces and sewed them all together.  I spray painted everything gold and painted the soles tan.  I'm not too sure how long the paint will last.  I guess I'll have to experiment a little.

Along with all the extra supplies I used to make them, they cost around ten dollars, which isn't too bad.  I don't know as I'd where them around just yet.  They're a bit shoddy, and I should probably touch them up a little bit.    I would really enjoy some feedback.  Thank you.
