I am wondering if EGL/Elegant Gothic Lolita style includes any knitwear, and if so, what sort?  I am doing a swap of a doll outfit on another board, and the doll's style is meant to be EGL.  As knitting/crochet are my better skills, I was wondering if there were any knit things I could make to fit-- so I have turned to all you keen Craftsters for help.

I don't think the outfit needs to be strict in style (as I am aware there are lots of rules surrounding this fashion) but any help would be much appreciated!

I heard on the radio the other day that Radio Aire is having one of their M2M contests for fashion design.  Their theme is a "night out in Leeds" and the bulk of fabric needs to be purchased from the market.  The finalists will be shown at Leeds Shopping week and the winner will have his or her garment for sale in one of the shops.

As I know that some of you on here are keen designers, I thought I might give a heads up!

I am wanting to make some trousers from Simplicity Pattern 4110 (Built by Wendy carpenter pants/city shorts) but am torn over what size to make.  I have read on the board that the trousers seem to run slightly larger (gapping) at the back and wonder how snug they are in the waist as I am one size in the hips and the next size up in the waist on the measurement chart.   I have checked the other threads and pattern review but could not really find an answer to this question.

For those of you who have made these shorts, would you go for the hip measurement or the waist measurement?  Should I go for the waist measurement and slop down to the hip measurement or would it be okay to cut the smaller of the two sizes?
