So January 28th was my friend Shaunsei's 20th birthday. He is the single guy of our group of friends, and is fascinated by anything female...lol. My friends and I threw a party for him, and I volunteered to make dessert. I originally planned to just make a normal cake, but as I woke up the morning of the party, it occurred to me...DUH!!! A BOOB CAKE!!!

I don't have any pictures of him with it, but here was right after I made it. Oh, and he LOVED it!! As well as all my other friends...they were all so confused as to how I did it!

BTW, the cake was store-bought yellow cake and vanilla frosting which I dyed with Wilton brand icing dyes in ivory and pink. I made the boobs with a sports-ball pan set thing I found at Joann's. Instead of making the two half-spheres and icing them together to make a ball, I kept them separate The nipples have those sugar-coated gumdrop things in them to give them the raised effect. I wish I would have thought of this sooner so I could have done everything in fondant...but I don't think it turned out half bad for a last-minute thing. Oh, and it tasted great too!

hey everyone! so my winter formal was this past saturday, here are some pics! i made it from flannel backed satin with a pattern (burda 8174) if you saw my other post about it being too big...i fixed it!! hehehe. anyways...here it is!!

Hello everyone!! So i decided I was going to make my winter formal dress this year, which is on January 20th. I used a pattern- Burda 8174. Now it was fairly simple to make, I made some dumb errors, but nothing too major. I just finished a few nights ago and it looks great! So I go to try it on and its waayyyyyy too big!! NOOO!! I even measured, double measured, everything, before I started cutting! GRRR. It looks great. On my mannequin it looks great...even seams, nothing too horrible for my first article of clothing...but when i put it on, it just kind of falls down again. It's strapless with lining on the inside and boning. I was considering putting straps on it, it wouldn't be TOO hard, although it wouldn't be the strapless look I was going for obviously...but even with straps, it'll still look like a bag on me. I was thinking about maybe adding some eyelets and making it into a corset? However I don't think it would really go with my black and white polka dot theme...grr. The skirt also makes me look heavier than I am, and it doesn't help that I have no waist to speak of so the rest of me just looks huge, but that's a completely different story...I will try to upload pictures tomorrow I've uploaded pictures! Hooray!, i gotta take them first haha. Soo...any advice my fellow craftsters??

and of course i was too camera-dumb to have taken a picture of the skirt portion...i tried and failed miserably. but it's also too big around my hips. gah.

ok, so i saw this post and i said to myself that i had to try it.

so i only have one shoe done...

speaking of necchi's....my mom gave me her old necchi 543....i have no idea how old it is, but it's sturdy with all metal parts. occasionally i'll have problems with tension and jamming and such, but for the most part, it gets the job done. once i save up the money i think i'll buy a new one, but this one works great for my purposes. i just started getting back into sewing after a couple of years.
