I was pretty amazed by the price of these bracelets too. *But* they do take a while to make, for me anyway.

I made a bracelet for my Mom using the same technique but only one "layer."




I tried it out using a satin cord, it's more flexible, but I'm not sure I'm a fan. I like the look of the leather more, but she loves the satin.

I used Chinese button knots for my closure element instead of a button. The knots are a nice decorative feature, in and of themselves. It also gives it more of a seamless look. 

Love the chinese knots! I've never tried those before, but I think I'll have to now. I also love the red beads, very nice. Smiley

Most of the time it's crayons or colored pencils. I've also seen people use water colors for a very light effect.
