Well!  I received a package from trip_and_fall!  I guess she didn't flake after all, her computer died and she was without internet access.  Anyway, she sent me an awesome tin full of goodies:

Some poppy seeds, some mystery seeds (already planted!  I love a surprise!) some beans of some sort, a bud vase, a beautiful leaf pendant, and some pretty confetti.

A close up of the pendant:

and the inside of the tin:

Thank you trip_and_fall!  I put something in the mail for you today.!

It's just chains glued together.

There's a tute on how to make the chains here:

83  Re: Potty Mouth Sweary Swap Gallery! Not for the easily offended OK? in The Swap Gallery by EvilRachel on: May 27, 2006 08:58:04 PM
I guess my parcel from Starpiste arrived yesterday, and no one bothered to tell me.  Fuckers.

But how can I be bitter in the presence of such filthy wonderfullness?!

Feast your eyes on these babies:

A pillowcase with a quote from one of my favourite McLusky songs.  This is the greatest thing to ever enter this apartment.

Next, an awesome HAND MADE notebook:

which I love!! AND

magnets, AND earrings!!

I had mentioned that I love the jewellery she makes, and she gave me an awesome pair of "OH SHIT" earrings which I will proudly wear to work on Monday, and see if I get asked to take them off.  The magnets feature hilarious quotes which apparently are curses taken from Roman literature.

Thank you so much for everything, starpiste, I'm one happy little pottymouth!

Here's what I sent to bebopchan:

I'd made the coin purse with cross stitched iris, the crocheted flower pin, and the orchid magnets for my original partner.  When I found out I had a new partner, I added the embroidered sachet, the book on chamomile, and some herb seeds.

Lookie what I got from astronogirl!!!!  Prepare yourselves to revel in crafty glory:

She sent a stencilled (?) pirated music t-shirt (tee hee!) a felted wrist cuff, a pin made from a vintage scarf, some sequin ribbon, and  a hot pink coin purse full of seeds for my garden!

How did she manage to fit all this into one measly envelope?  Because she's amazing, that's how.

Close up of the wrist cuff.  Check out  the sparkly beads!

Back of the t-shirt, and the pin.

Thank you so much, astronogirl!  I love it all!

86  Re: Steak Soap in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by EvilRachel on: April 17, 2006 02:02:33 PM
I actually made this for my roomate's birthday.  She put it in the fridge, and she made everyone who came to her party sniff it.  Some people were quite upset before they realized it was cherry scented!

Thank you for the inspiration!!

It was my first time making soap, but I got it red by using mostly cubes of clear, but a couple of cubes of white.  I just kept adding more and stirring until I liked the colour.

Edit:

Here's mine.

It's nowhere as good as the original, but I was proud of my attempt.  Smiley

Really?  I'm slightly gnome-obsessed.  I have no idea how she knew.  She may be psychic??

Also, Ruthie got my package on Monday, so here's what I sent her.  Sorry to be bogging things down with so many photos!

I sent 3 plastic pots I embellished, a cross stitched bookmark, a garden journal, 4 orchid magnets, and a book on how to design a garden.

89  Re: Starburst Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by EvilRachel on: February 12, 2006 12:27:16 AM
This makes me feel nostalgic!  When I was in high school (waaaay back in the day) I was showing a friend how to make these chains.  She was talking about making a hat, and I sarcastically suggested making her grad dress.  She showed up at school the next day with a case of them.  The entire senior class helped out by contributing wrappers, and the Starburst company sent us a bunch of rolls of uncut wrappers.

The final thing had I think 17,000 wrappers and weighted about 15 kg.

Here it is, almost 10 years later and I STILL can't eat Starbursts without feeling sick!  Grin
