2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 99 ENTRIES / A slice of watermelon on: June 05, 2014 04:17:40 PM
My little contribution to this month's challenge.  A slice of watermelon hoop.

And to prove it's actually a tiny item - the hoop measures 3" and the watermelon slice is 1 1/2".

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Oh Canada on: May 01, 2014 06:36:10 AM
I've had this project pinned for quite awhile and when I saw Challenge 98's theme I knew this was going to be my project.  Here is my inspiration PIN

For those unfamiliar with Canada - that's a maple leaf on her shirt and she's holding hands with a beaver, our national animal.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Without You ... on: April 28, 2014 12:47:33 PM
In the almost 29 years we've been married, I've gone through some medical issues that have required hospitalization.  Through those times, my husband has been a rock.  When I thought I just couldn't handle things any longer, he always had the right thing to say or do that would pull me up and help me see that I would get through okay.  A few weeks ago I came across this pattern and I just knew I had to make it for our bedroom, so that each day he can see how I feel about him.

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Oregon in Gold on: April 19, 2014 09:36:56 PM
I made this for my partner in the Embroidery Hoopla swap, the theme this round was Places.  I chose to make her state of Oregon and put a heart over her home town.  I used waste canvas for the first time.  I received some in a previous swap but never tried it until now.  I chose blue and gold as those are the State colors.

Removing the waste canvas, which wasn't as easy as I thought it would be...

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas in April ?? on: April 03, 2014 01:27:26 PM
Not really, just a quick little project I made today.  I'm in an 'instant gratification' phase where I'm trying to make projects that can be completed in one day, rather than tackling something that takes weeks.  I've had this project on my to-do list for awhile.

It's little - just 10" from hanger to heel and is totally reversible.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Rainbow Skinnie on: March 19, 2014 09:39:28 AM
When I started this project a couple days ago, it was intended for my mom.  She's in the hospital for the umpteenth time in the last 4 years.  I know hospitals rooms can be dreary and we are going to visit her this weekend so I thought it needed to be 'cheered' up.  However, when I was quilting it I got thinking what would she do with it when she went home.  My parents philosophy is that every square inch of walls need to be covered and not only would there be no where to hang it, it really would not suit their house style.  So I have decided to keep it for myself and I'll buy her a nice, bright bouquet of flowers instead.

When I was looking for an idea I saw something along these lines but it was pieced but I wanted quicker method so I came up with this idea.  The squares are appliqued on with a small zigzag and also quilted with lines.  Instead of a  binding, I just folded the front fabric to the back and stitched it down.  Overall it's 11.5 x 29.5 inches.

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Hoo's There on: March 08, 2014 01:38:57 PM
I found this pattern in the May/June 2013 Quiltmaker magazine.  I knew as soon as I saw it I wanted to make it.  It's a part of their Big Block Baby Quilt series.

My hubby had to work at a trade show today and when I asked him what I was supposed to do with myself all day (he rarely works Saturday), he told me I should make a quilt so I decided to take him up on that and did this in about 4.5 hours.

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Bright Stripes for Her on: February 28, 2014 01:48:49 PM
Another project made with a pattern in Surprise Crochet Sweaters for Baby.  There is one row of white between each color but it doesn't show up well in the pictures.

These work up so quick and are so cute that I've already got another one on the go.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Brown and Blue for Him on: February 10, 2014 08:22:10 PM
I recently purchased a pattern book for baby sweaters that are made in one piece and this is the first one I've made.  The entire thing is single crochet.  This is a 6 month size but I think the next ones I make will be larger as I'm concerned whoever receives this will outgrown it too quickly.
