5481  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Vulture Amigurumi on: August 11, 2006 07:35:46 AM
In 'real life' I would never call a vulture adorable - but yours sure is  Grin

They are both great!  I love the colors you used.

Everytime someone posts a picture of their star blanket, I kick myself for not finishing the one I started but I didn't like the colors I picked.  I might just have to copy your colors and start over!

How funny!  My mom is a collector of all kinds of things and she wants me to collect so badly...she'll bring me something every now and then to see if I'll love them so much that I'll start collecting them. (Thimbles, Tea Strainers, Limoges, etc.)

I understand totally - if I ever say to my Mom that I am interested in something, she will overwhelm me with that item until I tell her to stop - the latest was mini wind chimes.  She gave me one once and I said it was nice and the next thing I know, I'm collecting them (in her mind).

Now, if she wants to feed my collection of cotton fabric or yarn, I won't complain - but that's doesn't seem to happen  Grin
5484  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Wall Hanging From Bridesmaid Dress on: August 11, 2006 07:12:27 AM
Great idea and a great keepsake.  I really liked reading your blog on how you came up with this idea and how you used so much of the dress (even the ribbons for hanging it!)

old People magazines for me to cut up (I like the shiny people Wink )

Oh my summer cold must be getting to me - I read this and wondered why you wanted pictures of old people - then I realized you meant old copies of People magazine  Grin

I received my first package today.

In it was a knit dishcloth, some very colorful fabric and some candy (with no chocolate!).  THANKS secret FOC for the wonderful package!!!

5487  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Quilt Block of the Month Craftalong on: August 10, 2006 01:29:32 PM
I went to pick out my colors for this month's block and told myself NO PINK OR GREEN!!!!!!!!!  Then I found two colors I thought would go well together and came up with this (yes, that's lime green you see - I don't listen to myself very good):

I then decided to lay out all my squares to see what the quilt was going to look like - that's when I realized that I had been using rather muted colors and if I didn't use some bolder colors the rest of the year, August was going to stand out a lot  Grin

Correctionowife chose me for a wish list surprise and ever since she made that choice, I've been anxious to see what she was going to make.  Well, yesterday, my surprise arrived and was it worth waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had put down that I wanted a cross stitch with a scarecrow theme - and look what I got:

You can't tell from the picture but it's quite large and the amount of work is amazing.  THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  my fall theme has just gotten a major improvement  Grin

Sassysword, that pendant is beautiful!

I received a pair of oven mitts in a swap and I think the middle was a teflon insulation material.
