but I'm stuck on the easy square at row 2 when it says "dc around half dc" - can anyone help?  I don't understand where to put the hook in to do the dc.

I know that amdm has already answered this but I wanted to highlight her answer again so that everyone sees it and gets it right!

at the end of the first round you made 1 hdc into the 3rd of beginning 3 ch. That hdc formed a loop, which is the corner of the square. You insert your hook into that loop. Hope this helps.

Be sure to insert the hook INTO the loop!

I'm aiming for a lot of it to be crafted since I really can't afford to spend a whole bundle on goodies and trinkets..

For me, it's not that I can't afford all the goodies and trinkets, I would rather make everything and I end up running out of time!
5424  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Pink Pinwheels on: October 16, 2006 07:01:30 PM
I used this same pinwheel pattern in a quilt I made earlier this year and absolutely loved it so when I found that I had collected a rather large amount of pinks, I knew just what to do.  The other color is dark blue with stars on it.

Friends just had a baby girl so it's going to them soon!

Wonderful quilt and I'm in AWE of the hand quilting.  Wow, that's tons of work to put into something.  Hopefully it will be treasured forever!

Oops, I joined but forgot to bookmark the thread so I've missed lots of chatter.

I'm going to say I will send a medium amount but it will probably end up being lots once I see what my partner wants.

I'm beginning to worry that I didn't put enough on my questionnaire because I don't think I got too wordy, unlike some others  Grin

More wonderful squares!

tmd, it looks like you and I had the same idea - I, too, used a dark purple for the easy square (really, it's not blue like it looks)

On a different note - I am amazed at how many of you used multiple colors for the easy square.  When I first started picking out patterns for October, I decided to keep the easy one simple and tried to find a pattern with only one color.  Then, I decided that for November, we would try 2 colors on the easy square and get some experience changing colors, however, it's obvious most of you know about color changes!

I also received a wonderful cross stitch snowman from esmerelda - it's her own design and, if I remember correctly, the first thing she has designed!

Isn't he cute  Shocked

I received from irid3sc3nt last week but since I'm having computer troubles at home, it's taken this long to get pictures posted from hubby's office.

She sent me three 12" crochet squares and some chocolates (which my hubby enjoyed very much!)

THANKS!

I claim esmerelda for:

1. Amigurumi animals, especially rabbits, frogs, cats and owls

This is my 1st claim.

I'm in Alberta, Canada.

Yesterday (the 12th) my hubby and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary and I thought it would be fun to make a list of items he might like and surprise him with something.  So, here's my "I love my husband and want to do something nice for him" list!

1)  A t-shirt (men's large) with an M&M candy or the M&M man stenciled on the front of it (large or small figure is fine)

2)  A t-shirt (men's large) with something Coke related stenciled or embroidered on the front (large or small 'thing' is fine)

3)  A butcher style apron (adult large) in a masculine fabric -he likes tools, wildlife, red, blue or black)  (I'm tired of seeing him wearing my aprons when he wears one)

4)  He loves doing carpentry as a hobby and I thought a cross stitch picture would be fun - I would like it to say 'So many tools, so little time' and also have some tools on it.

5)  He collects hot sauce (3-5 oz. bottles) and any interesting or unique looking ones to add to his collect would be wonderful.

6)  He really likes peanut M&Ms, macaroons, Oh Henry bars and jelly belly jellybeans and I know he would appreciate a goodie box containing these (and even other chocolate items).

Okay, that's my list - it was hard coming up with 6 items - and I hope someone can find something on it to help me surprise my wonderful hubby.  However, if I stall this list, I guess I will have to add some of my own stuff, but I hope it doesn't come to that!
