5421  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Sampler baby quilt on: May 11, 2006 08:49:51 AM
Whew, that took some doing but I now have the names for all the squares - it was hard because I used different colors and it made them look different than the 'display' ones.  They are all found at this website:

You will see as you are looking through them that some are listed as hard squares - don't be put off by this if you are just starting.  This lady gives wonderful directions and I think anyone can do these squares.  Some just take more work than others.

Refer to my picture on the first page:

Upper row, starting on left side:

Double Star Chain
Brasstown Star
Union Squares

Middle row, starting on left side:

Double Aster
Star Puzzle
Double Spinwheels

Low row, starting on left side:

Castle in the Air
Squares and Stars
Box Quilt

Good luck on these!

Mendy, that will take a little doing since they are all off the net but give me a little time and I will post them here.
5423  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Modern Quilts' "Plain Spoken" (just top, so far...first quilt!) on: May 11, 2006 07:27:01 AM
Oh my goodness, that's a pieced top!

When I first saw it, I couldn't figure out why it was in the quilting section because I thought was a solid piece of store bought material.  Then I read on how you had made it.  I'm amazed!

Their eyes seem so real - wonder if the eyes follow you around the room  Shocked

Oh, I love the road kill turtle!  Especially the tire mark!

I'm on dial up so it takes awhile to get pictures so I usually read through what everyone writes about the picture while it's loading.  When I saw that a road kill tissue holder was coming, I had visions I can't describe running through my head of what I was about to see.  We don't have turtles here in Canada so I've never seen a road kill one - if they were that cute, I could handle it  Grin

Great little pots and wonderful frogs in them!  Although I feel sorry for the one without legs (poor little guy), I like the legged one best!

That looks like an amazing amount of work - GOOD JOB!

I can't imagine having the patience for that.
5428  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Hockey quilt! on: May 09, 2006 09:28:35 PM
That's fantastic!  The extra work you put in to it is amazing.

My two teenage sons are hockey fanatics (EDMONTON RULES!!) and they would love this quilt.

Please, someone remind me in round 11 that I don't want to make all my claims in the first week!!!!!!!

I'll just hope that some of my parcels arrive fast so I can pick again.

The Karl picture is too much  Grin  If I had had anything in my mouth I, too, would have spit it all over the screen  Shocked

BlooCanoe those quilt squares are fantastic!!    shameless plug - have you seen my list in the 2006 Wishlist May?

I know what you mean about getting tricked into starting something.  A number of years ago I had been resisting learning how to tole paint even though my very good friend was excellent at it and really wanted me to learn.  One evening she invited me and a few other friends over for 'coffee' - well, shortly after we got there, she brought out her pattern books and told us all to pick out a pattern and she was going to teach us to cut out and to paint.  Seems I was the only one who didn't know about this - sneaky her!  But, I've been thankful ever since.
