5331  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Jewel Box Scrap Quilt in progress on: June 09, 2006 06:00:16 PM
I love that!!!!!  All the color.

If it was me putting the border on, I would put a border of about 3 inches of plain white and then make a colorful binding using some of the same material (if you have any left)

That's a great looking quilt!

I love color and love how you used so much in this quilt.

Did she actually use whole shirts or cut the fronts out on some of them?

She cut the fronts and back apart and then used some entire fronts and some entire backs, depending on the shirt.

Also, do you know if she sewed them down on a piece of fabric for placement?

If I remember correctly, she did sew them down to a very light piece of fabric before putting the batting and backing on.

What is the backing?

Looks like cotton sheeting.

-shipping overseas can be frustrating because you have to wait so long before your partner receives!!!

For me, shipping overseas is WAY faster than shipping to the US.  I can get a package from Canada to England, Ireland or even Australia faster than to the US!

Where did you get the pattern or did you make it up yourself?

It's from a Leisure Arts booklet called Doilies in Bloom.
5336  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Daisy Doily on: June 07, 2006 09:35:27 PM
Last summer I made myself a doily and then decided to frame it in a metal ring so I could hang it on my kitchen wall.

That's one cute, disoriented and forlorn bunny!   Grin

Think I need to add something like that to my wishlist.

I received two packages on Monday and am finally getting pictures posted.

First, crystalfairy made me this wonderful cross stitch sunflower, which will be an excellent addition to my fall theme.

And, second, rain sent me this beautiful knit summer purse (it's lined).

THANKS to both of you!
5339  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / The 2006 Wishlist June Swap (new organizer) on: June 07, 2006 09:15:32 PM
Okay, now that I've finally found the right place to post for this swap, here's my list!

Sewing

A large tote bag - with a zipper would be great but not necessary.  Nice and bright!!!!

Oven mitts - any material but something with food, chili peppers or fruit would be nice!

I'd love a plush teddy bear - around 12" would be great!

Quilting

12" squares - any pretty colors and nice pattern would be fine but if you need inspiration, check out this website: http://www.quilterscache.com/BlocksbySizeC.html

Cross-stitch

A teapot picture with the teapot measuring about 3" x 3" and the Aida cloth at least 6" x 6" so I can frame it to match the few others I have.

Any picture that features tulips, scarecrows or sunflowers

Wooden Items

Something to stand on my display shelves, that's under 12" tall, and relating to tulips, scarecrows or sunflowers.

Rail pet - if you're a wood worker you may know what I mean but if not, check out this for ideas:

Fabric

I'm planning to make a jar quilt featuring fruit and veggies so any fabric with this theme would be great.

Crochet

12" squares - nice bright colors and any pattern is great Thanks Ezri_B!

Eeyore, Pooh or Tigger crocheted in thread - I already have Piglet and he's getting lonely for his friends.

Amigurumi - bunny or teddy bear Thanks Stellato_escuro!

Slippers - ladies size 9 in dark blue or dark green

Other

I collect miniature kitchen utensils so anything to add to this collection would be appreciated.

A summer purse - bright colors, short handles (wooden would be nice) and it could be crocheted, knitted or made with fabric.

This is really out there and I doubt anyone will actually do it but if you want to send me a small, electric chocolate fountain, I would be so happy.

Candy - I love trying candy from different parts of the world, so if you want to send me some, Id be very thankful.  No chocolate, though, as I am allergic to it.  I also really like salted dutch licorice and licorice chalk. Thanks!

A bit about me:  I live in Alberta, Canada.  I'm a stay at home Mom and have just started a casual job at a bank, which I am totally loving.  I like to crochet, sew, quilt, tole paint and something cross stitch.  I'll usually try a craft at least once.  I totally love swapping!

jesintexas - sorry for the stupid question but what exactly are those things you got from your partner?

superstitch - I'm totally jealous of your crochet roll!
