5301  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Our very first stenciled shirt on: July 15, 2006 09:03:42 PM
A few months ago my son asked me if I had ever stenciled, to which I had to reply no.  He asked me if I could find out how to do it and could we stencil a shirt together.  I told him to go ahead and work on a stencil and I would ask this group for advice.  I received wonderful advice and we were able to get on with the project.  I found out after we started that I should have mixed my acrylic paint with a fabric medium but didn't this time so the lettering is a little hard.  My son wants to make more shirts so we will know for next time.

This is what we created and he has received many wonderful comments on it:

Any comments or suggestions are very welcome!

My absolutely wonderful partner was SEVSONLYGIRL and she spoiled me rotten and also stalked me well as everything she sent was right on!  I must explain why you will only see 3 packages listed here - for some reason, package #1 didn't arrive but she is re-sending it, however, I didn't want to wait until then to post the other marvelous things she sent and to tell you all who my partner was.  So, on with the show:

Package #2:

The adorable BERNICE

Package #3

Reveal package #4

THANK YOU for everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earlier this week I received my reveal package and I was thrilled with it and totally surprised as to who had my name (I had no idea).

Here's what I got this time:

2 wonderful craft books - a quilting pattern book and a painting/sewing book.  I know there are many things in these that I want to make.

AND

2 stacking containers for holding small craft items, some wonderful sunflower fabric, a rotary cutter, some "I love quilting' buttons, needle pullers (never seen these but they look handy) and lots of wonderful yummy candy.

Thanks again not so secret partner!  Guess you will all have to check out the reveal thread to see who had me.

I have been terribly negligent the last few weeks in posting pictures.  I'm about to start week 3 of a 3 week stint in my casual job and I've just not had the chance to get to hubby's office to post until today (some day I will get a computer that can handle the camera  Grin )

K8kre8s sent me some wonderful fabric for the fruit/veggie jar quilt I want to make:

AND

liebschien sent me some wonderful crocheted slippers (which don't show up very good in the picture) that fit fantastic!  As a bonus she also sent a 12" square for my friendship afghan, some homemade soap that looks wonderful and some candy!

THANKS to both of you for these wonderful swap items!

I also finished the Wyoming Valley block.....this was honestly my least favorite block of them

I love your Wyoming Valley block!!!!!

I have the last week of July off from my casual job and so that's when I plan to get my June and July blocks done.  I have the fabric picked out, I'm just too tired at the end of the day to sew.

but really, size 10 is fairly large for a doily, isn't it?

Between my sister-in-law and myself we have made many, many doilies and we've never used anything but size 10 for them.

Have you checked websites like crochetpatterncentral.com yet?

Yeah, we have but there's a qazillion doily and table cloth patterns and we didn't want to look through each one - I thought maybe someone would know of a pattern and save us some time.
5309  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a 34"+ doily pattern on: July 09, 2006 09:11:15 PM
My sister-in-law is looking for a round doily pattern that is at least 34" in diameter and made with size 10 thread.  We tried tonight to do web searches but had little success.  She suggested that I ask my friends on my craft group (that's all of you!) and see if anyone could find something for her.

So, if you know of a pattern on the web that fits this description, please post the address here.

THANKS!!!!!!

I claim dontlookback for:

17- Crafty magazines and/or project tutorials. I would like to organize all of my projects and anything that I can hole punch and stick in a binder would be great. Anything besides knitting would be great

This is my third claim this round.

My list, in no particular order:

I'd love a handmade plush teddy bear - around 12" would be great!

A large tote bag with a zipper and one inner pocket - any nice bright color and pattern.

A knitting apron like the one on this page (scroll down):
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=97824.msg971894
but with different fabric.

Eeyore, Pooh or Tigger crocheted in thread - I already have Piglet and he's getting lonely for his friends.

A mixed paper journal

The fall theme in my house is scarecrows/pumpkins and I'm short of a few scarecrow items.  I'd like something scarecrow related that I can hang on my wall (I like 'nice' scarecrows rather than scary ones)

I collect real miniature kitchen utensils so anything to add to this collection would be appreciated.  Please don't pick this wish and then send me doll house miniatures as that's not what I collect.

Candy, especially dutch salted licorice or licorice chalk.  I actually like most any candy but my favorite kind is chewy.  No choclate as I'm allergic to it.

About me:  I'm from Alberta, Canada and, for the most part, I'm a stay at home Mom.  I started a casual job a month ago that I'm loving.  I like to crochet, sew, quilt, tole paint and some cross stitch
