5301  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The Great Craftster Scavenger Hunt Round 2 Swap Gallery!! on: November 28, 2006 03:52:03 PM
Ratzrule received from me a long time ago but wasn't able to get pictures posted and, unfortunately, the ones I took were erased from my camera.  So, after PMs back and forth, she e-mailed the pictures to me and I'm going to post them.

Here's most everything (just realized there are 2 items not in the photo)

and a close up of the sides, top and bottom of the jewelry box

Now, let's see - I used

on the jewelry box:

Canadian flag
Irridescent sequins
Something bumpy (the snowman)
Seomthing heart shaped
Something music related
Something musical
Something oval and blue (the egg)
Something speckled (orange and black ball on top)
Somethign that reminds you of fall (leaves)
Something you can read (the letter S)
Something you see in winter (the snowman)

and other items:

Breakfast treat (a package of peach instant oatmeal)

On the lip balm:  A photo (there really is one) and something with partners favorite flavor or scent

The stingray:  An unusual animal (it sure is for Canada), something from the ocean and something fuzzy

Necklace and bracelet:  Something lime green, something purple and shiney, something round and shiney

Tea (the tea, of course)

Penguin keychain - something penguin

Beaded glow in the dark necklace - something glow in the dark and something plastic

Dog stickers - something shiney

I also sent her a panta (something to keep your partner warm this winter) and, I believe, I also sent a pen (ink and something to do with literature or writing) as well, I wrote her note on pink paper.

Whew, I think I've remembered everything!

5302  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking for suggestions on how to border my purple/yellow quilt on: November 28, 2006 08:12:17 AM
It's laying on my living room floor right now in pieces but here's a shot of a few of the blocks so you can get the general idea of what it will look like

I like your idea prue - I wonder what it would look like if I used a mixture of the yellow from the squares for the tiny highlight border rather than just all one color?

I discovered a few weeks ago that you can set a notification on a *board* to get an email when there are new posts. Cool That's what I do to see when a new swap is posted.

Thanks for the great suggestion - going to do that for the swap board right now!

I've decided I need a knitted mitten garland to go with the crochet mittens I already have.  Now, if I could only knit  Shocked

Are there every fantastic things in this swap!

MissMeshell, you sure did a number on those of us with dial up!  I was determined to see everything you had posted and it only took 7 tries!!!!  I think my phone line must be bother by our -29 C (-20 F) weather, I'm sure of it.  It probably didn't help that lafemmefatale and gomerriffic's wonderful pictures were on the same page.  But, I did manage to eventually see everyone's pictures  Grin

Not sure why I've been finding all these good swaps so close to the ending date but at least I made this one!
5307  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for suggestions on how to border my purple/yellow quilt on: November 27, 2006 06:40:58 PM
I've been collecting purple and yellow fabric since the month after I joined Craftster in January (all through swaps) and I'm now done piecing all the squares and am in the process of putting them together.  That part, when finished, will cover just the top of a queen size bed but I want to add a border so that it hangs down the sides.  That's where I'm kind of stuck.  I'm using a pinwheel pattern and have approximately 40 different yellows and 40 different purples all mixed together.  What I can't decide is what to do for a border - should I use a solid yellow, printed yellow, solid purple, printed purple or introduce a totally different color?

Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a good site for free patchwork patterns go to the Quilter's Cache free pattern page. Awesome!

I couldn't agree with you more - this is a great free site!

Wow, they are fantastic!

Is that an afghan under the star quilt or are you putting a lacy edging on it?
