5201  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: bright double irish chain on: January 01, 2007 06:03:35 PM
Great job!  I understand not wanting to give it away - that's how I am with most quilts I make  Grin

Wonderful! and what a lot of work - I've made one of these squares and I thought it was intensive and you made a whole quilt out of them.  Your nephew is one lucky boy!

Your blanket looks beautiful!  I love the bright colors.

What a wonderful surprise to give your Mom  Grin

Wow, those are great - I'd never thought of using crochet on an ATC but it's fantastic!

You crocheted with your fingers??  I've never even heard of that!

They both look good - my suggestion for the bowl, that may make it more sturdy, would be to make the bottom flat rather than with a pedestal.

That looks very pretty - what a great way to use up old sheets.

And I've started the experienced one. Does this look right?

I've looked mine over and it seems to be very similar to yours so I'd say you are on the right track.  Just be sure you don't get the long stitches too tight or the square won't lay flat.

Wow, some of you are fast - I didn't expect anything to be done over this holiday weekend.

I'll go ahead and post my pictures since some of you already have  Grin

I'd like to claim from Atsuko and I would like the 1 yard red with stars material.

Here is what I have to offer right now:

Gold doily (made by me) and framed in a metal ring - great for hanging on the wall!

5 partial balls of cotton yarn - some balls are almost complete and some are less than 1/2

Blue t-shirt material (approximate size is 52" long x 60" wide)

I'm not totally sure what this material is but I'm guessing a cotton blend - it has a stretch in it - the approximate measurement is 3 yards long and 40" wide.

I will make 3 crochet squares - you pick the color and size, I will pick the pattern.  These pictures are all of 12" squares and are just so you can see what I can make:

Happy New Year to you all!

Here are the squares I picked for January - I made both of them last week to check the pattern and see that all was okay.  There are a few typos in the experienced square but since they are easy to figure out, I didn't think I needed to fix them for you.  In the easy square, there is a large mistake so after I post the link, I will tell you the correction.  I used the recommended hook (size H, 5.0) and the experienced square worked out fine but I had to make the final round of the easy square in double crochet rather than single crochet to make it large enough.

This month's squares are called January Square and New Year's Eve  Grin

Round 6 of the easy square should read:  Ch 4, sk last dc (*2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2 corner, ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk ch 1 sp, dc in next dc, <ch1, sk 1 dc, dc in next ch 1 sp> 4 times, ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk ch 1 sp,* dc in next dc, ch 1, sk last dc) 3 times, rep from * to * once more, join in 3rd ch of beg ch 4.  Finish off main color.

Have fun with these!
