5103  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 19 on: February 14, 2007 05:53:47 PM
I claim chrissiemags for:

~A wisty surprise
and
~fabric - pref. cotton/flannel (please no scraps & bigger than a fat quarter please)

This is my 4th claim (1 has been received and 2 are in the mail).

I'm in Canada and this is my list:

1)  Tablecloth (at least 50" x 70") made with sunflower, leaves, snowflake or spring flower material.

2)  I'm looking for specific Laurel Burch fabric - I'd love a FQ minimum of her Hearts and Hummingbirds and anything from her Jungle Song collection.

3)  An amigurumi elephant, penguin or pig (think, smaller is better)

4)  Quilted pillow cover for a 16" pillow (I'll provide the pillow) in dark blues and gold.  (Yes this has been claimed but I don't mind receiving another one)

5)  I'd love a handmade plush teddy bear - around 12" would be great! (handmade=nothing store bought)

6)  Crochet hook roll with snowman, snowflake or sunflower material (or other bright colored material)

7)  An amish puzzle ball in bright colors.

8 ) Candy and other goodies from your non-North American country.

If my short list stalls this, I will try and add more.

What a great hat!  I'd love to see a picture of it on a baby.

question for anybody who has made the bear.
I was thinking of stuffing the arms and legs then getting them in the postition you want them in then sewing like in a large circle circle from the inside of the body so they are held on by a large amount of fabric instead of just a small bit, this should make 'em less floppy right?

I thought of sewing the arms/legs on that way, too, but I think it would work best before you stuff them - how would you sew them on after they are stuffed?

5107  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Heart Teddy on: February 12, 2007 05:43:20 PM
This is the first teddy bear I have ever made and while I am fairly happy with it, I will being doing a few things different when I make the next one (like stuffing the ears which I forgot to do and connecting the legs/arms differently.)

                                       PHOTO removed

I connected the legs/arms by sewing through buttons located on the inside of the body and each appendage - if anyone would like to share a better, less floppy way of attaching these, PLEASE do so.

I made one of these bears today and it went much better than I thought.  I found that all my pieces matched fine.  My only challenges were figuring out how the muzzle worked (the part not attached to the face) and attaching the arms/legs.  I used the button method where you sew a button on the inside of the leg/arm and inside the body - I don't think I will do this again as I don't like how floppy they are - I'll have to find a better way to do them.  Now I can't wait for the material from this swap to arrive so I can make another one!
5109  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OTT 10 Gallery on: February 12, 2007 07:31:23 AM
We only have one package left to be received and then this swap is finished.  I'm going to organize the next round and I'll probably open for sign ups in about 2 weeks.  I'll post a link here and on the OTT 10 main thread when I've opened them so you all will know about it.

One item left to be received and we are finished!  I'm so happy with how this swap went being the first time I have organized one.  I am going to organize the next round and will probably start sign ups within two weeks.  I'll post a link here when I do start it.
