4921  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - APRIL on: March 31, 2007 06:30:35 PM
It's hard to believe that we are more than 1/2 way through this craft-a-long and it's hard to believe it's April - there's too much snow in my back yard for it to be April yet, but it's melting!

April's easy square is one I've made a number of times and really enjoy.  The only thing I had to change was add an additional round of dc on the end to reach 12".

Easy

The experienced one is also a square I have made a few times and enjoy.  I had to add an extra row of dc to get it to 12" also.

Experienced

Hope you enjoy this month's picks!

gavagai and I did a personal swap and she sent me this wonderful Russian Doll bag (it's reversable) and some Ikea fabric.

Thanks so much gavagai, I hope my friend likes this bag as much as I do!!

I received a pillow cover from TwiztidBlood yesterday.  Sorry I have to show it flat but I don't have the correct size form for it yet.

I'm hoping for a quilted pillow cover.  This site is one of my favorite for quilt blocks and some of these 14" squares would make beautiful covers:

TheSickRose, I love your strawberry turtle!  What a neat idea  Smiley  Any other 'fruity' turtles planned?

Guess I'll just go by faith, and Homerof2's assurance,  that a 14" pillow will fit a 14" form.

Here's proof:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=156030.msg1602875#msg1602875

My 18" pillow form in an 18" case.

I am planning to join this swap, I just haven't taken the time to fill out the form yet  Grin

ok i just thought of something and i know this may be dumb but is the cover it self 14" or is the pillow 14" I mean wouldn't you have to account for pillow fat? I'm confused  Huh

I just made a pillow cover for a different swap and I purchased an 18" pillow and made my cover 18" and it fit perfectly!  I put a zipper in the bottom of my cover and after the pillow was inserted, the zipper did up fine, it didn't pull funny anywhere and the cover seemed to handle the fullness of the pillow.

I love two tone quilts and the square pieces make it a modern bit of wall art - would definatly hang it on a wall here.

Smiley  When I first showed it to my son, without the playing pieces and asked if he knew what it was, he said 'It's a window' and then when I told him what it really was, he thought it was a neat idea and wanted to play right away.
