And sorry, Homerof2, if you felt like I was having a go at you--I wasn't, it's just that yours was the nearest "spelling doesn't matter" remark I could find. Ultimately it's a personal preference, so there's no right answer as to whether or not you should correct someone's spelling, but I don't think it can hurt if it's done gently and sparingly.
I didn't think you were having a go at me at all.
Maybe you misunderstood what I meant. Spelling matters LOTS to me and it drives me nuts when I see mistakes here and elsewhere! What I meant by this comment "but I don't do anything about them because, in the whole scheme of life, it doesn't really matter."
was that I wasn't going to correct someone every time I saw a mistake because I have other things to do with my time and, most times, I've found people don't care.
I've spoken up tons at church when the overheads and bulletins have spelling mistakes and usually I get a 'well do it yourself if you aren't happy with it' or 'does it really matter anyway?'.
Ask my sons how much spelling means to me!
I think everyone should get back to crafting. Don't you guys have some swaps to participate in or something?
(although I probably shouldn't say that since the last time I said it to someone, I found out they were younger than me. I'm one of the 'oldies' on this board and so you probably couldn't be my mother)
