541  Re: foc swap 3 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Homerof2 on: September 26, 2006 02:17:44 PM
I am so hoping that people are still reading this thread so they can see the wonderful item I received from Cinderly as a thank you.  It's not her fault it took so long, the post office lost the first package she sent me!

I opened the package and was awed but also thought she went way beyond 'the call of duty' in what she sent me.  Then I read the note included and knew what was happening.

My actual thank you gift was this wonderful apron

Wow, is it ever hard to take a picture of yourself and not include your head  Grin  (not that brave, yet)

It's not the greatest picture of the apron - you can hardly tell that the fabric is burgundy and the bottom, skirt pockets and upper pocket have an added part that is burgundy with gold dots.

Cinderly knew it was my birthday in September so she included these wonderful fabrics as a present

Isn't she wonderful!  THANK YOU cinderly for all these fantastic items!

evildeadgirl received the tiny item I sent her and since she's been sick, I offered to post a picture of what I sent.

This is the first octopus I have made and I sure had fun with it.  If I remember correctly (I did measure), he's around 2" high.

Yesterday I received 4 wonderful, bright crochet squares from Obsessed.

The picture doesn't do them justice - they are much brighter in 'real life.'

Thanks! Obsessed, they are a great addition to my afghan.

I received my 3rd package from my secret FOC today.  A pretty journal!

Love the color!  Thanks so much!

Just to let you know that I will be on holidays from the 7th - 17th so don't panic if you don't hear about the last package arriving.  If it's here when I get back, I will let you know asap  Smiley

546  Re: instant Swap Aug 2006 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Homerof2 on: August 26, 2006 01:04:51 PM
I'm finally getting to post pictures of the items lasandri sent me for this swap - sorry it took so long  Grin

This is a knit dishcloth and it has a tulip stitched into it (which is one of my seasonal themes in my kitchen)

and...

a beautiful crochet square for my ongoing afghan (it looks much better in real life).  It's made up of 9 smaller squares and Lasandri said it's the first square she's made and I think it's great!

THANKS for both items!

My hubby collects hot sauces and it's pretty hard to find them up here in Canada so for this swap I thought I would see if anyone would help me collect some for him.  Tofuttibreak, way down in Texas, picked that wish and they made it undamaged.

When I was opening the package, he happened to walk into the kitchen and asked what I was doing.  I told him it was stuff from a craft swap and it was actually something for him.  He gave me this strange look but as soon as I started unrolling one of the bottles, I think he figured out what it might be.

The first one I opened was a clear liquid with chili peppers and garlic floating in it and to say he was thrilled would be an understatement.  Then I opened 2 more!  He was so pleased and couldn't believe that I had done that for him.  So, enough rambling - here's the picture:

THANKS tofuttibreak for helping me make my hubby happy!

4 days ago I went to the mail box and there was a big, puffy package in it from my secret FOC.  I took the package home, opened it, turned it over, gave it a little shake and out popped 2 items.  The first was this:

a beautiful tote bag (I love the colors).  The second was a little purple knit hat - hmmmmmm, I wondered, why in the world would she/he send me this (it's a little small for my sons  Grin )  Then I decided I should find out what the bulge was that was still in the bag.  Well, I quickly found out who the little hat was for:

The worlds best knit snowman ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He's so adorable and cuddly and I can't wait until I can display him with all my winter stuff - he's certainly going to be a great addition.

THANK YOU so much secret FOC for this FANTASTIC package!

550  Re: Quilt Block of the Month Craftalong in Craftalongs by Homerof2 on: August 10, 2006 01:29:32 PM
I went to pick out my colors for this month's block and told myself NO PINK OR GREEN!!!!!!!!!  Then I found two colors I thought would go well together and came up with this (yes, that's lime green you see - I don't listen to myself very good):

I then decided to lay out all my squares to see what the quilt was going to look like - that's when I realized that I had been using rather muted colors and if I didn't use some bolder colors the rest of the year, August was going to stand out a lot  Grin
