11  Teapot Cozies in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Homerof2 on: December 28, 2014 08:28:47 PM
I've had a teapot cozy my MIL gave me many years ago but I've never really liked it because the creator didn't pay attention to the fabric and the objects on one side are upside down.  I finally decided to make my own by taking that one apart and using it for a pattern.

The green snowflake one was my first attempt and when it was finished I thought it was a little too snug.  I then enlarged the pattern and made the sunflower one.  Once I put that on the teapot I realized it was too big.  Back I went to the snowflakes and with a bit of figuring I was able to make it fit, which I'm very happy about because that's some of my favorite fabric.

The center layer of each cozy is heat proof batting, like you use in oven mitts.

The cozy flat -

I received from rockingbearranch today and didn't even attempt to try and wait  Cheesy

She sent me an adorable snowman ornament and snowman stamp, which she carved into an eraser.  The blue stamps beside it are examples of what it looks like.

THANKS!!!

14  Ornament Mug Rug 2 in Quilting: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: December 23, 2014 02:15:48 AM
This is my second attempt at making an Ornament Mug Rug using a picture and not a pattern as reference.  The 1st attempt can be seen HERE

I'm still not totally happy with the band but it's getting better.

16  Ornament Mug Rug 1 in Quilting: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: December 22, 2014 01:00:28 PM
I wanted to do a quick, simple project today so went looking in my mug rug ideas on Pinterest and found this one.  No pattern - I had to make it by looking at the picture.  Nice thing about this is there is no binding, I just went around the ornament twice with zigzag.

The band is sewn on top of the candy canes so I know they are lined up but the curve of the band makes it look like they are pushed to the right on the bottom half.  I'll see if my husband notices  Cheesy  If not, I'll continue using it but if he does, I'll make a different one for next year without stripes.

I'm not totally happy with the band shape so I'll work to perfect it over the coming year as I'd like to make some for presents next Christmas.

Today I received from Eclectic Dreamer.  She went with my love of snowmen and penguins and did a great job!

The stocking:

Crafted:

Snowman mug rug, 2 snowman tea towels, 3 hoops that she added beads and decorations to,
Seasoning mix and many yummy sounding recipes.

Purchased:

Penguin fabric, 2 penguin toys, notebook and pen, oven mitt and pot holder.
Update:  I was cutting the tags off the fabric penguin toy and my scissors
kept sticking to the front flippers and that's when I discovered
                                    there are magnets inside them!

20  Reusable Snack Bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Homerof2 on: December 09, 2014 07:29:51 AM
I recently made a couple of reusable snack bags for a swap partner using this tutorial.  Instead of laminated fabric, my outside is cotton fabric and the inside is PUL - with the waterproof side facing the snack so it can be wiped clean in case of spills.

It was a quick project which I know I will use again.
