Here they are - all my Maple Leaf blocks ... when I first joined, I was in one group and planned to make those squares in to a large wall hanging.  When I spur-of-the-moment joined a second group without picking a different square, I knew there would be enough for a quilt but now I can't decide what I'll make.

Who knew that removing paper from a quilt block was so dangerous to thumbs.  They both look like this.

7  Re: 15 Quilt Projects in 2015 in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Homerof2 on: August 04, 2015 08:05:07 PM
I DID IT !!  I managed to make 15 projects during the year and we still have almost 5 months left.

Latest project is another wall quilt.  It's a Ribbon Candy Quilt Company pattern called Popsicle Skinnie.

Straying off topic just for a short minute.

It's been very hot and humid here too and that's what usually brings our storms.  This is not the largest piece that came down last night but fairly representative.

10  My first quilt - yes, you're reading this correctly! in Quilting: Completed Projects by Homerof2 on: July 08, 2015 10:48:48 PM
For those that know me, this is probably a confusing subject line as I've posted many quilts already.  But, really, truly, this is my first ever quilt.   Smiley

I was cleaning out above my bedroom closet a few months back and came across this sealed nicely in a dark plastic bag.  I knew what it was but hadn't looked at it for years nor had I taken photos of it finished.

I started this the beginning of 1999, when my cousin and his wife adopted a baby boy.  I had never quilted before but was a good seamstress.  I found a block pattern online, went to the local fabric store to pick out fabric (yikes!) and started sewing.  I knew before I had the top together it was never going to be given away.  I had spent $50 on material, which was huge for us at that time, and more hours than I care to remember.  After I had the top finished, my SIL suggested that I ask my MIL to hand quilt it, which became another reason it would stay with me.

When all was said and done, I tucked it away for the day I would have a grandchild (even though our sons were only 10 and 8 at the time.)  They are both married now but I'm still sort-of-patiently waiting for the day I get to use it.
